Cali man just chill for a while. One thing I've learned over the year is to keep the arguments in an appropriate thread/time. You guys gotta realize when arguing with mods is going to be useful and when it's just going to be stupid and useless.

It's useful when you have a thread like before when Stefan or someone similar posts because then you can have some kind of debate or argument. But in a thread like this, Cali, it's just useless and annoying. Sides, I think we can agree that Moonie isn't really the main problem.

Moonie isn't the source of the problem, no.
She doesn't need to be so strict, however.
And she does excise the power of the mods too much.
But the most blame lies with the guy who almost never posts...Unix

Stop using overly abstract terms like "strict". It doesn't matter how "strict" or not "strict" a moderator is. There are good moderations and there are bad moderations. What we want is to get rid of the bad moderations, nobody cares about some arbitrary measure like "strictness".

Spark910 has a spectacular aura about
I'm sure its already been said, but creating a new layer of authority, making communication even more complex isn't the way to fix problems people may see.

Lets face it, people have issues with set moderators for whatever reason, and those people are not going to be happy until they are gone. The idealistic idea of someone who overrules everything they do is unlikely to happen, as anyone put in such a position will have to co-operate with the moderators (and vice versa) and I'm pretty sure nothing much will change to satisfy those who are not currently satisfied.

Considering Moonie doesn't have another 60 years left in her, and you need to stop riding Graal's balls alot Excal, you're putting too much time and effort into something people are going to forget about in a couple of days.

Go get a job or something.

You know what else'd be cool?

If the forum administrator could forward the more popular ideas to Stefan. So instead of hoping he sees one of the 99 mentions of his name on the forums, begging for this or that, he just says "Hey Moonie, any prayers for me today?" and she can be all "Well, Excal didn't have anything nice to say about you, your country, or your mother, but he did come up with a few ideas for mac development tools" and Stefan can be all "D'oh! I knew I forgot something! Tell him if he can make me the frontend for it and comment in what he wants the buttons to do I'll just translate over the PC version and get it finished when I can", and then, you know, stuff'll get done.

'cuz PMing takes forever. Seriously. I'm lucky if I get 1 response out of 10, never with a Read Receipt, and even then it takes a couple weeks to a month. If he's busy, the system should take that into account.

Stefan reads that stuff. He spends a great deal of time looking in the future improvement section, tech support, etc....

Screw talking about the ideas, Graal won't put them up, or work on them, and that causes them a loss of money and wages. That's their problem.

If they actually listened to players, they would make more money. So essentially they're screwing themselves over.

i see there was only 3 people that agree with this thread. I have been in many discussions on these forums. Only one or two of the threads have been deleted.

instead of demanding how rules are inforced. why not read the rules and try not to break them? I didn't really have a hard time doing that.

You don't have to read it all word for word. Most of it is commen since.a lot of the rules are about having good "manners"
which it seems most people have lost these days.

I don't see her breaking any rules. If unix thought she was doing a bad job. We wouldn't see her anymore. So therefore in the eyes of unix she is doing a good job. so i suggest you take this up with him.

Just like people fight to change laws in every country for the right of man, the people on graal have the right to fight for a change in rules for the right of its players.

A lot of people didn't women to vote and I'm sure a lot of people said the same thing. "Just follow the law" Not the best example but hopefully you get the point. Call all these people immature just because they want a change if you want.

1) He's overworked as it is - but I'm not about to tell him how to spend his time, I'm not the boss of him.
2) He doesn't have the time to respond, thus his passage goes largely unmarked. Maybe if there was a feature for "This thread has been viewed 297867 times. This thread has been viewed by Stefan.", it'd help - we'd at least know he knows what we're talking about, and we can hope exactly as fervently that he thinks it's a good idea and will be in the next version.

You should, it's fun. I was thinking of making plush Graalians a few years ago. Easy enough once you get down the pattern - almost all the heads are just recolors and modifications of Fung Si Yan or Anime Girl or I Has A Helmet, and there are only so many body-files on the Classicstyle servers. Other servers is(are?) where it gets complicated.

It seems to me there needs to be someone to moderate the moderators. From what I have seen they are doing a bad job. They have split the forums up.. yeh, that's really a good job.

So you want a moderator moderator?

Oh wait, you mean a super moderator. Oh wait, we have two of those. Someone to moderate the super moderators? Do you mean administrators? We have two of those two!

Someone to administrate the administrators? Why, gosh, we could call them super administrators! Or maybe just the owners.

That's the answer entirely too often. Any solution that ends with way more work for Stefan is no solution - it just ain't gonna happen. He's already maintaining all the official servers, coding Graal3D, making new stuff for Kingdoms, updating the engine, working on tools for the engine on multiple platforms...add to that And doublechecking everything Moonie does, and something's gotta give. I don't think he's gonna invest in an automatic pizza-feeding-arm just so he can keep focused on work even while he's eating.

Oh wait, you mean a super moderator. Oh wait, we have two of those. Someone to moderate the super moderators? Do you mean administrators? We have two of those two!

Someone to administrate the administrators? Why, gosh, we could call them super administrators! Or maybe just the owners.
The suggestion seems to be (looking at the rest of the thread) that the person wouldn't actually do any moderating but would just handle appeals or something. Not that it makes the idea much less useless or anything.

I understand the concept, Googi baby; I see exactly what the suggestion is, I just don't see how it would help or make anything better. It would just be another hoop to jump through and another person who would sit there and be like "Yes, well, see..."

It's not about improving the system from a bureaucratic perspective for the proponents. They're just hoping that the job goes to someone who will, at the very least, overturn all special directive-style moderations. You probably knew that already, but you weren't saying it.

No, someone to keep the mods in line, you know, doing stuff that's against the rules, or closing threads for unjust reasons.
Mods should be able to get infractions too

Sorry, no, not feeling it.

All you're trying to do is create an extra level of infrastructure and bureaucracy where it doesn't need to exist. You're using "mods" as a general term for every non-normal user of this message board and that does not apply at all as we have no less than four usergroups of varying stature and posting ability. You cannot say "We need someone to keep the mods in line." because you're including administrators in that and if you put someone in place to keep the administrators in line then what control do the administrators have?

The admins are there to keep the supermods in line, and the supermods are there to keep the mods in line. And by extension the mods are there to keep the users in line. There is no room for a fifth group.

I don't disagree with you at all, my point is more that there is already way too much infrastructure going on here and adding another layer into it is just getting absurd. The upper administration (ie, people whose names are red and are actually part of the Admin usergroup) should be the final resort to what the players go to.

Note that I am not throwing my support behind anyone, I'm simply saying that the concept of a "Mod Manager" or a "Forum Manager" or a "Moderator Moderator" is absolutely dumb.

Couldn't have put it any better myself.
