I don't think Graal3D looks all that good...I guess i'm just not into that stuff or my graphics card is not up to date...But it looks choppy to me, and it looks like it'd lag like a mofo

Yeah, I really don't appreciate how you went and made this thread after I said I was going to... I just got on the main forums to do so, when I see it... That really was not cool =/ Regardless, it seems that enough WANT an online level editor, so I think I'm going to go around to a few random playerworlds, ask if they'd be interested in one, and then make my final thoughts on it. Right now, it looks like I might need to make one. If I do, it'll be based on a server->to->server usage rights. Where you get in touch with me, tell me you're interested in using it, I'll come and install it and show you how to work it and ta-da. Rather than just posting it out in the open, but I don't know. Will need to do a future poll on that later as well, but that's for another day.

I wouldnt dare relese mine into the open, and should I decide not to renew my server, i would more then happily allow other servers to use it.

Sounds good. I saw Alex's, not bad. I did start on one once, but never got around to doing a lot to it. Figure it will take me a couple of hours. Plan on doing a box to move it around in. Right now I don't feel good, but come this weekend or next week after work, if I find I have extra time at home, I think I'll probably sit and code one. With variable rights and tilesets as well, and think I'll add an option to either edit the level directly, or have it make a copy of it to edit so you can use like /revert to go back to the saved copy, or you can save the version once you're done, and then have it overwrite the existing. Little more power and flexability

a few of those things i already incorporated, the only thing i guess i didnt do, was add other tilesets to be allowed to be used, im sure if i sat down and wanted to do it however, it could be done.

We are not going to remove the editor stuff from v2.x, but we are not adding an offline editor to v3.x. There will be functionality in v3.1 to allow scripting of online editor. Tile editing is working but is not having a good interface yet, script editing is working for global npcs, soon for local npcs.

In other words, we can still use 2.22 to edit things offline, as expected. However, any updates to the scripting language will not be present in the editor, therefore it becomes more and more outdated.

Theres no need for offline editor if you can do it while your online...Theres a reason the online editor is being created.

That's the stupidest comment I've ever heard. You do realize that not everyone has a connection to the internet at all times, correct? You do realize that time can be well spent doing things offline when you can't get online, correct? There's also a privacy factor. I like to do things without people knowing that I'm doing them. Having RC continuously tell everyone that a script has been updated pretty much ruins that, don't you think?

have you been paying attention? many people prefer to do it offline, for one you don't have to connect to do random stuff, you don't have to worry about being d/c and losing work, and the other stuff

I'm really tired of hearing this disconnect arguement... You don't realize that it is automatic and saves, you won't lose ANYTHING because it updates it as you work... >.<

What if you want to undo the save? What if after you place some tiles it looks fugly and you want to revert back? What if the whole level ends up looking like crap and you have to delete it and get the old one there?

What if you're making a practice level (since we have to do it online these days) and some other LAT comes, steals the level's styles/themes/paths/etc, and puts it on his level? Who's going to stop him? How CAN you stop him? People will end up being able to view all your practicing/training.

How about when you're actually using the offline editor? Stefan says the level editor will stay in the 2.x versions but what if the level editor is enchanced on 3.x? What if there's tile layers? What if the tileset just changes and pics1.png is no longer supported? What if the level format changes to .gk instead of .graal/.nw?

What should you do if you have a big ass assignment and your isp just drops on you like a bomb? It's happened to me. Then what.
