I had this problem on UN for a while :o Apparently projectiles were piling up and eventually taking up lots of CPU or something. Either that or some script was functioning horribly. I think Tig resolved it.

However, changing levels fixed it so it might not be the same problem.

Having more RAM will only make your computer faster if you're using a program (or running a lot of programs) that uses a lot of RAM and you run out (therefore having to use virtual memory, which is slower than RAM).

Found a fix, turn off ALL your antivirus programs, and then run CCleaner.

I barely lag at all now!

Running more than one Anti-virus is just asking for trouble, and performance degradation especially if it has some sort of nosey firewall module (assuming you're using the Suite version, it does).

I personally only use MS Security Essentials, and only have loading problems with Graal since it decides to scan it for whatever reason.

I'd recommend uninstalling/removing BitDefender completely and just use MS Security Essentials alone as it is pretty solid.

It really comes down to personal preference, and MSS has been pretty good to me (doesn't bother me with pop-ups ever), but I don't venture into virus territory so it's really just a free safety net more than anything.

However some are better than others, here's a benchmark that was taken in Feb. See attached.

But really just get rid of one or the other so you only have one AV, having more than one is just bad.

MSS is very good, but if you do a lot of tormenting and such on the internet where you might be taking risks, running ESET and MSS together works very well, and takes little resources.

Should also install malwarebytes and run a scan once or twice a month.

Question

Would it help my lag if i went downstairs and plugged my laptop directly into my router and used Local Area Connection instead of Wireless connection?

@ Jerret Okay, uninstalled Bitdefender..seems a little better but now we have a new problem. see attached

@ Aeko, I do all my downloading on my other computer which is the family computer for everyone to use. My sister and I use that computer for downloading music and videos for our Ipods. But i was just using this thread for my laptop because I mainly play graal on here.

Wire > Wireless, can't really say that it'll fix your problems though.

Close MSS' user interface? Everything else uses CPU, that's normal.

MSS wasn't open, not even in the task bar? This is weird, why is it hogging CPU?

Scanning..? Try opening it up and see if it's actually doing anything, and restart.
