Posting for Com013
Unixmad's announcement shocked me. When I joined the Classic LAT I knew I wouldn't be paid for it, and I wouldn't get a free subscription. But I thought at this point, that nobody else was getting money for my work.
Now things are different. I have to fear my play account being reset, since I can't pay. Of course some of you are saying "Hey, you can pay for your internet access, so you'll be able to pay for Graal, too."
Yes, but when my parents would read "GraalOnline Registration - $15" on the phone bill, they'd be very angry, and won't allow me playing this game anymore.
I'm working for Classic, and I have to pay for it?
I'm working for Classic, so other people can get money for it?
If they are taking money for it, I want something in return. At least a free subscription for my play account for the time being a LAT member.
An other problem are the "annoying" newbies. Yeah, I know they are sometimes annoying. When I'm using my LAT tag I get lots of questions like "Can you give me a house?", "I made a cool house, can you put it on the server?", "I deleted my GC prize, can you give it back to me?", "Why aren't you on the staff list?",...
It is a good thing that on Classic the LATs are not on the staff list,
else I'd get lots more of those messages...
But do you want to lock those newbies completly out of the game? When their account is lost each time they disconnect, they have to do the start quest on Classic lots of times. And I bet after the third time they wouldn't play this game online anymore.
And they can't even ask the FAQ or other players for help, since Unixmad's plan was to disable sending PMs from the players list for trial accounts.
Ok, you need money for running severs. And this way most of the current players will register and so you'll get a lot of money. But that was the last time you got money for registering. No newbies will register.
I have other ideas:
You should save the accounts of trial players, but you should limit the time they can be online to two hours the day. After this they'll be put in ghost mode.
To stop them sending mass PMs you could limit the number of PMs they can send (not counting response PMs) to two the minute.
They shouldn't be able to join guilds.
Perhaps this would work to get money without blocking the newbies and people who can't pay at the moment totally out of the game.
