Just study other people's art work to learn their styles. Try picking up on these styles and search the definitions that you do not know of.

You seem to be understanding the concept, but it still doesn't seem right.

you tried to shade it all right, but blue and green aren't supossed to be different shades of red, atleast not in this way.

I don't think you're understanding what's really going on with it, though. Your shading looks really 'scribbly' and messy, and doesn't seem to have any actual thought behind it. You have to think about how light will fall upon a shield of that shape, perhaps looking up shields can help. For example:

Alright well I think this might be a little better but I don't like where it gets lighter and I don't know how to fix that.
