There'd be like 3 people online without them.

Leave the trials alone. I'm a technical trial.

How did gk's population drop from 30 p2ps a day (average i guess) to like, 7?

:3, trials weren't needed before for gk. There was plenty of other p2ps. Just give people a reason to upgrade.. Or wait for the xmas special.

Currently trials:
- cannot join kingdoms
- cannot build their own house
- don't win event items
- are switched to the observer mode at login and from time to time

The observer mode limit should eventually changed to something where trials are limited in levels and customization of their character.
1: No but that isn't really a discouraging thing. Trials can still participate indirectly with kingdom affairs, and while I applaud you for making Graal one of the few (or only) online games that actually HAS player run kingdoms with their own land, the game content and player counts limit the leaders and the players. Graal is not the only game I play. Even loose unofficial guilds on other games have more options, more performance, and more options then one of our kingdoms does. Trials aren't really missing out on that much.
2: Yes, they can unless you limited that REALLY recently. I know one that owns three houses on Forest. He's also got his own Alamo fort around them. He also has one of the most successful shops I've seen down near the forest docks.
3: No but they can buy them like candy. I repeat, I see trials trading blocks of diamonds bigger then what I've ever held at any given time. What finally broke my back was seeing a trial running around with a sword I've been dearly wanting since I saw it on debug, but I couldn't even figure out if one even EXISTED on the main server. Whether they can win them or not, seems to have little effect on whether or not they can actually get them.
4: I started a trial for the heck of it. See what it was like. I've got bad news for you. The Observer Mode is pretty weak. Whenever it hit I went and surfed webcomics or looked up demotivators until it passed.

That, and if trials can surpass even advanced players within a week of starting, they're going to have zero desire to upgrade. Well, maybe a little, REAL little, if they have money to burn and don't realize that there's so little overall content.

I would like to propose a few simple restrictions that I believe will greatly improve the situation.

1: Trials cannot enter the haunted houses. (The dungeon is big and dangerous enough to keep them occupied. This also limits their access to the real moneymakers on the server, limiting just how successful they can be.)
2: Trials cannot choose gods. (Doesn't mean they can't get blessed weapons but it might slow them down, and it would prevent them from getting Bile's +100 sustennance which would be a huge advantage for any real starter.)
3: Trials cannot add slots to weapons.

And if you want to be real mean -
4: Trials cannot learn skills other then the ones they start with.

These don't all have to be used, but they'll strike directly at the more advanced and long-term development.

I can't tell if that's an argument for, or against. I know it ties into the issue somehow but I can't quite figure out how. And, whether you're trying to help me or not, this is still a game. I don't understand how a real life example can be used as a very valid point for arguing the fairness of an online game.

I like the timed observer mode, and saving items - but perhaps some more playing limitations would be better (can't enter haunted house, can't own a pet, limited weight carrying).
