People interpret art in different ways BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW THE MEANING OF IT. I'm not moaning, I'm speaking with some sense, which you seem to lack if you couldn't read the context clues and figure that out.

There is so much controversy behind the Mona Lisa because no one knows exactly what it's supposed to mean. I bet if Da Vinci would have finished it and explained his reasoning behind making it, then there wouldn't be so much hype on it.

Even abstract artists know what they're creating. Other people might think it's something else, but he/she knows what it truly is.

You just didn't ask the right question - refer to mine for an example of what the right question is.

The Mona Lisa isn't mysterious because "it wasn't finished" (uh, sure) but because Leonardo Da Vinci was involved in a lot of very complex stuff and some very unique thinking.

I don't see how asking him what it means was an incorrect question.

If I painted an abstract heart and an arrow, I would say that it is a heart and an arrow, and that it meant pain, sorrow, heart-breaking.

I'm taking Art History this year, I think I remember hearing that he supposedly never finished it, not sure though, might have been another painting since we brushed up on it at the beginning of the term ;P

You can look at it however you want to, but he never openly stated what the picture was about.

Then it wouldn't be abstract, would it? Abstract art is bull ****.

Da Vinci rarely painted his work - when he started he did, but as he collected a following of students they often did the hard work, he just composed the art.

They didn't really care back then, most of them were just like "OMG JOHN OF ITALY GO HIS PORTRAIT PAINTED, ME 2 PLZ."

But this is a discussion of Ems work, so lets not discuss Leonardo Da Vinci.

For my design class. I actually made 12, but when I made them they were 1500x1500, so I had to change the composition and crop them a bit to make them work as backgrounds. So, I might post more later.

Well that's the purpose. If you want a high res version (1280x1024) go to the deviant art page and click download.

By the way...welcome to the forums It's great seeing a new artist around here
Well i'm not actually new to the forums, so I guess you just haven't seen the other stuff I posted in the Graphic Design forum. Eh, you didn't miss much :P The other stuff I posted is all pixel work anyways, and it's not amazing.

To me Red Wood signifies new life, growth, and the inevitabilities of existence. Emerging from the death of the black coil, into the new life of the tree, and eventually falling back into the death of the red coil. And repeat.

When I was making Red Head, I was thinking about the unidentifiable many headed overseeing beast that is government. I was thinking of the tentacles as displaying how far reaching and manipulative it can be.

It's a flower; it jumps. Actually a lot of people see different things in this one oddly. It totally looks like a flower to me, but other people seem to see a wolf, and a mountain. Odd.

There's only one design which has any strength visually, and I would say it's the first.

And there we have it Gambet, he does know what his own pictures mean. If you read the entire thread completely you would have known why he avoided the question; it was the wrong one.

What do you mean by stength?
They are all successful from a design point of view, but granted the first one is probably the most attractive.

I don't see why everyone is jumping on Gambet so much. His questions were perfectly alright

Hardly a battle; more so an intellectual exchange of facts, and the information about them. But once again, I don't want to discuss anything within this thread aside from Em's designs.
