it's like you know what i am making with my server, Argos!
give people something to do besides pk and attempt to hack w/e
reward them for exploring etc.
the only thing is i gota learn to do it mostly myself
becasue, as i am sure many other private pw owners know,
the cycle 95% or more of the time is:
1. person wants to be staff, you review and if you decide to hire them
2. you give the person a task and they do it, and perhaps a few more tasks
3. the person knows of the dozens and dozens of other private playerworlds and goes on to one of them - or now that their skills are better from helping you out, they get hired on a hosted or classic tab server
4. they become inactive and either never bother to log in rc on your server again or if they are polite they will tell you that they quit
and the real stinker is that the server owner ends up finishing half-done projects of any type - levels, npcs, graphics, ganis, quests, whatever they may be.
You just gotta accept that if you buy (rent) a gserver space that you should expect to do almost all the aspects of it - levels, npcs, graphics, ganis, whatever it needs - pretty much by yourself.
levels and graphics can be made offline, then when you get to making the npcs, that is the time to get a server becasue gs2 does not work offline - every other part of development does work offline.
even when making Sanstrata half a decade ago, when you could make everything offline and there was not gserver, we made like 75% of the levels npcs quests and story offline, then through the right connections, got it hosted. there is a certain distraction level to developing a server online, becasue people from other servers can message you, or when a new player logs in to your osl, you can say hi to them or they will ask to be staff, etc.
anyways ... ya watch my argos server, its gona rock your socks off when it gets ready to be hosted. which may be sometime this summer.
