I am working on a server, and I am not even going to waste the time buying a server until it's "done" (considering I intend to do major updates to it monthly/bi-monthly even after it's so called "completion").
Even so, I doubt I would hire
any staff for it. If I can't do something myself, I will learn, if I can't do something fast enough alone, then it will just have to take longer. If I did hire anyone, it wouldn't be a whole crew, I don't need like 4 of every type of developer, christ, people can do more than one thing, if I hired someone I would expect them to be proficient at multiple things, be over the age of 18, and have a very similar evaluation process on "what makes a good game worth playing". If they can't meet those requirments they are likely too stupid, immature, and lazy to be of any help anyways. Too many times I've been invited to work on servers and was given RC, only to be there for less than a week and realise I was the only one producing any content for the server.
Sadly, alot of these such servers have an owner, 2 co-owners, a manager and like 3 co-managers, and like 1-2 actually working class titles, GAT/NAT, etc. For instance, I think there was a server named Aleria (changed names before once that I know of) or something which had a very similar case, 2 owners, 4 managers, and me, the graphics admin, I was questioning why there were no scripters and I think a owner and a manager claimed to be the scripters, after which I was talking to them about scripting something to implement the GUI/Menu system I spent a couple days doing and they said that's a great idea, let's do it, two weeks later, they hadn't even started.
I had like full rights and folder access the day I was hired.
