Well let me use this example being a writer: if you write a novel, it is automaticly copyrighted in every legal sense (though it wouldn't hurt to mail yourself a copy), then send it to a publisher. Many beginning writers believe you have to add that their manuscript is copyrighted; they do not, anything you, yourself create or write is automaticly copyrighted.

kinda like when you write a computer program it is automatically legally copyrighted...

you can find a lot of info on copyrights on the inter just do some reasearch

Exactly. But, you can't copyright things such as names, or ideas.

Its very hard to get an item copywrited, you ahve to pay thousands of pounds, its not like saying this is mine, ill pay 5 quid now it is allways mine

There. BTW, once you make something you own the copyright to it. Paying the government to copyright it is just a way to get cold hard PROOF that you originally made it, so you can sue people and win =]

To sum up the page, if you simply create something and it has never been made before, it's yours, you can force people to stop using your copyrighted work.

Registering it takes it one step forward, you can sue if they violate the copyright.

you can force people to remove copyrighted material without a registered copyright, but you need it to be registered to sue for monetary damages
