Aaah, just kiddin'.
I'm just trying to let ya understand all the points and views and every possibility of NewMain and this whole RPing thing.
When it comes to NewMain RPing, I'm usually really open-minded. It's just that...hrmm...I've been really frustrated with a number of things. I have a whole bunch of Dustari stuff to finish and I'm at a bit of a mental block, so I've been really irritable lately. Sorry for being so mean.

I get that way alot too, mosty because of people not understanding my own point of view.
But aaaaanyway...
Does anyone wanna change this topic to "RolePlaying Improvements"?
I could come up with ideas as we speak.

So could I. I shouldn't be saying this, but I've been working on a small system for miniguilds inside of Dustari that'll allow some people a bit of flexibility. Like, a trader's guild, a fisher's guild, etc., etc...It's been the project I've been working on ever since I finished the Class Charts and History. That, and the entire Military Police that I am planning to implement, which I am writing an entire charter of laws for...But I have hit a bit of a road block and I am getting very frustrated. By the way, any post that is started by Asuka or has Asuka heavily involved in it seems to raise my post count by 100 or more.

Keep in mind that everyone(and new people to the server) will have to know these laws and regulations. So it would be wise to keep them simple, and cut down to the point.
Plus you could add these rules into a library which would be in Dustari Castle. Heck, maybe you could make a book system where players could rent/borrow books from the library and read them instead of having to go to the library every time to read the same book. You could add features like book marks to save points in the book so the player doesnt have to press a button untill they get to the point where they last read off at.

I'd love to do that but Dustari does not have a scripter. Sure, we have level makers and people can RP and such _but_ we don't have a scripter. Birdbird is still learning scripting, which sucks, so for new NPC type things we're really sort of stuck in time. As for the regulations and laws, they're always to the point, but maybe not simple. :T I gotta go to sleep now, so bye.

Yeah it's 1:39 AM here, and I've got people nagging me to sleep too.
Although couldn't you just kindly ask Stefan to make that system? He could make it easily.
All it would be, would be say2's(editable sign text), checking for 3 lines at a time(pages), and saving at those spots. Then the checking out system(library table counter) would be pretty easy to make for any good scripter. Although you could need to get someone to make book images, old librarian lady images, perhaps book mark images, and some other things.

Perhaps you could add more jobs to Dustari by giving people jobs as Librarians, Scribes, and so on.

A bookmarkable book NPC? By the time you read this, I'll have started work on it. I might need a little help though.

I did about 2 minutes of thinking..
Perhaps you could tokenize the string breaks(for the ending of sentances so they wouldn't run off the sign board), and you could check the bookmark spots for that

weeelll... maybe not AS SOON as you read it. I assumed you'd all be asleep, but we're in different timezones... I saw an NPC on the GraalNet (may it rest in peace) Forums that did text wrapping... anyway, I'm scrutinizing the commands.rtf file now, but I'll keep this open 'cause I know you're around.

erm... the guy who made the text-wrap NPC, if you're reading this... could you post it? You'll get full credit, of course.

You know, since you mentioned color effects, Birdbird, I think you're a good level maker, but you use them to much!

I remember Stefan saying something when he was checking the Birdnest, and saying something about a 100 NPC limit to each level or something...
And Birdbird, couldn't you have just used replacetiledef instead of adding a bunch of NPC trees which dont even have a realistic feel to them? I mean you added bits and parts of stones/bushes to make the trees solid. You could have at least used setshape2.
Perhaps you could get busy working on that now, and remove some of the light effects down in there too. And making the graphics for it shouldn't be that hard. All ya hafta do is cut up treenm3.png according to the ways a normal tree would used tile-wise. Then the rest is just re-making the levels, only with tiles and no NPCs.

Lightbulb

since people worry about respawners, why dont you just use the kingdom game as the area to rp? it has towns with the ability to take them over, it has weapons and things like that, and it also has healing for after the skirmishes. maybe each of the towns would start out with like 1000moneys and work from there.
