Western- Europe

Western would kick ass, unless you are talking about intellectual things

The weapons themselves can't win or lose either way. Saying some melee weapons are better than others is a lost cause, I say. Sure, a well crafted broadsword, to give a basic example, may be better than a poorly crafted or poorly balanced one. But even a "bad" balance may serve some purpose, facilitating a different kind of swing. They're apples and oranges, I think. All weapons were good, in their own way.

Besides, Asia and Europe both had so many different kinds of weapons it would be impossible to compare them collectively.

I, sadly, left off one of the best choices- BIG swords. Lots of people like those. Too bad I couldn't have more than 10 choices!

Yayamajig this thread is alive again, hopefully!
And, Dante posted on the boards, which means he was not abducted by a flying Pizza like i had suspected :P
Anyway the kama is a very great weapon. Dante i suggest you get a book called "Secrets of The Samurai." It is like thicker then the 4th harry potter book (well i needed some comparison:P) and it is an extensive, and i mean very extensive, overview of bujitsu, i.e. martial arts, all of the types of bujitsu, weapons, and things like social status and anything possibly related. LOL theres one page that is filled completely with just different arrowhead designs. Anyway I like the Kama, which was often used by farmers, because during the Tokugawa (sp?) period, the lower peasantry classes were forbidden from carrying a sword,
they often had to innovatively use their tools as weapons.
Anyway.. so i like the Kama..
what else do i like,
well i like virtually all of the weapons utilized by the Samurai but i also especially like the Naganita.

someone needs to make these kinds of weapons on graal and have them have cool graphics, and then script them and put them as a prize for a really hard quest

Since when was that a melee weapon?

Well, Sisok, if say, a Japanese samurai and an English knight fought each other, depending upon their accoutrements, I think it would matter much more which of them were better fighters. Back then, warriors from all countries were extremely strong, very disciplined, and usually quite skilled. I guess the samurai would probably have better armour, but the knight's weapon might be better for piercing armour.

Then again, actually, I guess the samurai would have the advantage there. The average european warrior was skilled in one particular type of weapon, which the Japanese warrior would know how to use a spear, a bow, or a sword well- which means he could use the spear to pierce the knight's armour.

But, I'm mostly just guessing. Like I said, what would matter most is which of them were better.

No, not really. They were bigger, sure, but not stronger on the whole. Although we might not imagine it, the warriors from either place were probably real "macho" men.

well, I guess the only way to figure this out is to go back in time and get a soldier from then, and have them fight.
