Dude, you can take a screen shot by pressing your home key (circular button on the front) and unlock / power button simultaneously.

Well the messages only pop up when an announcement is going on. We have a seperate chat system for basically mass messaging.
Screen on the phone might look a bit full, but on the larger devices like ipad it works very good.
