Yes, a TV out on your video card does let you view your PC screen on a TV. Too bad that's not what you said. You said a TV out CARD. Which I simply took to be a "TV card", or more commonly known as a "TV Tuner". Which would NOT allow you to view your PC screen on a TV.

Edit:
Ok, that was quite stupid now that I think about it, but still, you DID say a TV tuner card, which does not let you view your PC screen on a TV. A TV Tuner does not usually have an output port, so that was stupid on my part.

Digital line out? there's another funny looking serial on the back, but I wasn't interested enough too look, and there's always a TV out card...
what are you smoking? the ever so debatable pot!? I said a TV out card, a card that lets you watch TV on yoru computer wouldn't be called a TV out card!? that makes no sense, none what so ever! it would be a TV in card, etc, so the TV can go IN, and with a TV out, the little pretty desktop goes on the TV o.o

I wasn't aware there were cards designed specifically for the function of viewing your PC on your TV. I always thought they were integrated into video cards.

I would like timestamps on RC conversations:

(mm/dd/yy) Zero Hour: I forget the correct format for the month date year stamping, but you will get my point.
(mm/dd/yy) John Smith: I don't excist, I'm only for example use, and my name is on many credit cards in commercials, every second I'm alive is agony.

Date isn't really necessary for every message, but time would be nice.

I dunno, but a timestamp for comments and ban info would be VERY useful. Press a button, inserts current time and date, what fun!

I have a couple questions...
How would we IP protect RC?
Would it be like you press the button, and it opens like a normal RC with the server lists? Will IP protection be in this at all?
What about hackers, I can see a huge problem with that.

I seriously am sick and tired of seeing the term 'hacker' used for stuff like this. 99.999999% of the times this happens, it's because someone with RC is STUPID and DOES NOT DESERVE RC because they don't have enough responsibility to prevent themselves from being trojaned, if someone was to 'hack' (I still don't like that term... hacking means something diferent) someone's account, they would be 'hacking' graal's account database.
[edit]
I assume some protection will be added anyway

How will FTP work, considering there won't be anymore dragging and dropping into the File Browser?

Oh, wouldn't it be great if there were built in local and remote filesystem stuff.

We could make a whole ftp client in-game. fully functional.

You probably already know, but to inform the mere mortals, the GServer does not consider your client an RC client and thus will not give you access to the nonscripted admin rights unless your IP matches.

K, I asked Jagen that question on RC when he randomly popped in. He said there's going to be some script functions, I think. I wasn't paying full attention to him.

Anyway...I asked him then, but he didn't know, so I wanna ask here.

Since RC is going to be a weapon, what's going to stop someone with set other attributes from removing the weapon, thus removing other people's RC's? Or, since the IP range field is default at *.*.*.*, what's going to stop them from just giving a random person RC? Or what's going to stop a NAT from deleting the RC Weapon from the NC Weapons List? Or what's going to stop them from putting up a NPC to remove it from everyone who logs on the server which has it?

There are too many possibilities...and I'm sure they won't all be covered and protected, and someone will find a way to screw with it.

Maybe that would be standard at Delteria, but this is the big league. Have you noticed that all but one of the issues you raise involve the use of a traditional RC? And have you considered the fact that such RCs won't exist anymore?

They would have to intentionally script away from those possibilities...and still, the old RC will still be able to be used, so...

Um, that's kinda the discretion of each server, dude. It'll only be used if you let it be.

The important thing that needs to be covered is getting a list of what accounts have what rights - at serveral servers, they've employed the practice of removing people from the server options without removing the physical rights from their accounts.

Hmmm

I think thats looking pretty good but I still dont agree with this whole idea of have-everything-in-one. There's definately going to be flaws with it and from what I can see it looks like it will only work in Graal 3? OK, so if this idea went ahead, I still think that all the old RC support should be left because I know I dont want to be in Graal all the time that I'm on RC.

You'll have to forgive me if anything I say has been previousely mentioned, because I'm not going to read through 14 pages of flaming, spam, and the occasional idea. With that said, here is my two cents on the matter:

I personaly think its a boneheaded idea to include it into the client, but it desparately needs to be redone.

I think the level editor should be separated from the client.

It would be nifty for us developers if we could alter the interface of the rc with gscript.

It would be nice if the time I spend working on the rc can be added to my player's online time >.>

The rc's layout is fine, I think, so please don't tinker with it too much.

More gscript commands to relate to the happenings in the rc, like you could access the rc chat text ingame with something much like a stringarray, or what not. This can be more usefull, let alone fun for the sake of novalty, if the rc remains separate, so the rc chat (kinda redundant, since "RC" means 'remote chat' if you ask me, rather 'remote controler') can be accessed ingame by the admins. It could be used for a variety of other things too, but I'll leave that up to your imagination.

Oh, just got another excelent idea...
Making it so the rc not only is built in, but is also separate, so you don't have to load the whole client to make a little change online, but you have the intention on being online for a while and debugging stuff, then by allmeans the person should use the one in the client.

Also, a sandwich would be nice...

Ability to search accounts locally

Ex:
Search for all accounts banned on the server.
All accounts containing <string> that have played on the server.

Etc.
