Umm, wait, the D drive is the CD-ROM drive. So how can you write data using the D drive?

Most of the computers I use have two hard drives, one C and one D, and the E and M drives are the CD drives.

Not always , depends on your partitions of your HD. I have my HD partitioned into 2 drives , C and D and my DVD is F , CDRW is G and my zip drive is E. I made the HD 60/40 so C is 60% abd D is 40% , this way I use D as a storage space for files I don't want lost if I format, since formatting to reinstall a OS is done on C and not D unless you set it to do that. My HD is 60gigs and it is better for speed wise to partition into smaller drives.

I am sorry, but when did I ever say to try copying all you games to a different directory just for the fun of it to see if they work or not? I did not even mention the fact that moving game folders from one directory to another will work, did I (besides Graal).
But Kaimetsu thank you for reminding me to announce this.
Every one, I guarantee that any game installed full on your hard drive (no cd need required games) will work prefect if you transfer it to another hard drive or to another computer on your network 100% of the time provided that you are not trying to transfer a game that needs to be run on a 16bit operating system like windows 98 to a 32bit operating system like Xp.
I also guarantee 95% time for cd games provided that the game is compatible with the operating system of the other computer you are transfer to.(that’s only if you are send a game to another computer on the network. And it also depends in how good or how crap the other computer is. It’s just common since really .

If you like to know where I got all this information from, well it’s all from experience
so none of this is bulls***t. I have been using computer sense I was 9 and I am now 18, i have easily over 100 games between legitimate and pirated games. I have work part time in computer stores and even an online travel agency once part time. I transfer game and software over my network all that the time and I never had a problem yet. (My network consists of 4 computers) Even my friends with no computer knowledge are able to install there games and copy the folders and transfer them to my other computer with out any problem so i don’t see where you are get the statistics that 90% of game transferred do not work!!!

I know I am gone off the point slightly, but it all comes down to people using the initiative .

All this talk of copying/cutting and pasting... just open the d drive, open another window with your graal folder, right click and drag the graal folder to the d drive, and release right click and select Move Here. Not difficult at all. :P

Also, when you go to download newer versions of Graal, just be sure to change your drive to D instead of C.

Drive letters just assign themselves via which drive it detects first. My one harddrive is also partitioned into 2 drives, so I have C and D as harddrive space, E as CD rom, and F as CD-RW. You could partition your drive to have like a ton of different areas.... You could get an 80gig and partition it 8 times to get 10 seperate drives.

C, D, E, F, G, H, I, J, K, L... lol I forgot what happens when you pass Z, doesn't it start doubling the letters? Like AA BB CC? I have no idea heheh.

Exactly what I was gonna say...Most games alter the registry and if the folder is changed to another drive, then the registry keys also have to be altered...While it is possible to do this, it is very time consuming and certainly not worth the effort when you could just reinstall the game...Just backup your save files

You cannot have drive letters past Z. All operating systems I know of are limited to 26 drive letters. You can have more drives however if you mount your extra drives as directories, because these would not need a drive letter. That only works in UNIX or WinNT based systems though because older versions of Windows have no concept of "mounting" drives.

The drive may have been labeled ab, but it could not have been the drive letter. As I stated, all OSes I know of only support 26 drive letters. For more drives, you have to mount the drive to another drive as a folder, but only OSes with special capabilities can do this such as any flavor of UNIX, or Windows 2000 and up. Not sure about Mac OS, but if it does, probably only OS9.1 and up...

Lightbulb Re: Re: Re: Re: Re: Moving Graal

Look, let’s settle this before we both get out of hand.
We both have different point of view and we are both right from those point of views. You where thinking about the majority of Graal players that don’t hold a grate knowledge of computers. You where right to say that most kid with out grate a knowledge of computers might have some problems. I forgot that the majority of Graal players don’t have grate knowledge of computers beside the very base stuff.

But if you have a computer knowledge that makes you more or less comfortable in using windows with out know a lot, what I have said about transferring game directors should work with out any problem, if you keep the obvious into account that
you have to re-enter the cd-key if you transferred the game to another computer on you LAN. Some times the games have to be reconfigured to suit the new computer that is on (e.g. hardware configurations)
(The reason for enter the cd-key into the computer that you sent the files to is because the cd-key is save in the windows registry and not in the game)

I know people say debate is healthy but, this is getting out of hand and a bit boring.
If I have insulted anyone, then I apologies for that. Kaimetsu lets just called it a truce
So we don’t end up hold a grudge against each other.
