Currently named Project Mythic



Mythic is a playerworld with a medieval/fantasy design, and with the main intent of providing players with a place where you won't just be doing endless of hours with grinding to reach what you want.

You'll be able too:

• Level your character(s)

• Duel/spar players for fun and/or prizes

• Roleplay

"WHAT!? BLASPHEMY! DID HE SAY ROLEPLAY??" - indeed I did. While we will not enforce roleplaying, we will definitely encourage it in any way we can.

When you create a character, it will have to be named something descent* and not something like KyleXY, IownYoFacez etc. If we find any character that breaks this, we will force it to be renamed.

In a way, we're doing some rather unique things. We'll have...

• Custom bodies

• Turn Based Combat

• Real Life day/night cycle that affects your surroundings and NPCs

... and much more. I could really go on and on about things, but why don't you log on and tell us what you think instead? Any input, be it good or bad, is appreciated. If you're interested in helping out, send me a message! See the attachments below for some screen shots.

Your GUIs are rather ugly ...

The house looks really flat, may need to work on that.

Otherwise, looks good. It's nice that you're trying to get a RP server, but I don't think enforcing names is a good idea. This is, in a way, forcing roleplaying, which will turn people away from your server.

Forcing people to have descent names is in no way similar to forcing people to roleplay their characters.

And, as you see, it's the default GuiBlue - meaning we haven't made one ourself yet.

I still think forcing people to have a realistic name (e.g. Chris Zakuto) is in a way forcing roleplaying since that is a large part of roleplaying.

But still, looks nice. I will come check it out some time, assuming it is not staff-only.

Will depend from case to case really. Name's like "Alf" will be allowed - it might be an old popular TV show, but it's also a very old nordic name - while names like "Naturo" and "Link" are obvious cases.

Of course it's possible, the main thing is he said he would not force RP, yet this is a way of helping to force roleplaying.

I fully support monitoring names, and having players stick with one name they choose. I never understood being able to completely change your name to whatever you want whenever you want.

While I DID say I would not force RP, I did say that I would encourage it anyways I can - forcing descent names is one of the ways. And no, it won't be banable for having a wrong name, you will simply be forced to rename your character.

Despite that, it's not what most people will associate it with.

And guys, please, stop being obsessed about Naruto in every thread I post in - you weren't spamming stuff about Final Fantasy 8 when I had a Squall avatar, no need to start with Naruto now that I have a Gaara avatar. Thanks.

I'm a scripter. Character renaming would be 100% scripted, thus forced.

Forcing RP is forcing RP. Forcing names is encouraging RP. It doesn't have to be directly related to RP anyways. To force RP would be to consistently monitor and punish players while they are playing... based on their actions. To force a name is simply to avoid retarded names.

Ya, a forced name. That's a forced name, that's not forced RP. If, afterwards, he does not enforce RP(roleplaying) gameplay, then it is not forced, but encouraged.

Both "Kevin" and "Nick" would be perfectly valid names, as would "Ziro", "Twinny", "Raven" etc. be. Examples of bad names would be "Ipewpewandyouqq", "Asdhagsd", "Immortalgod" and so fourth.

I believe the point here that ziro is making is that crude names will not be allowed and he's warning you ahead of time.

The tileset is decent. What I think is missing from them that gives them a flat feel is shadows off of buildings. This is obviously still a work in progress so I fully expect GUI's and similar things to probably change a few times before he hits on one he likes.

The idea of an rp server is nice as outside of Val there really aren't any and this plan appears to give you a differant style of it from theirs.

When a server has a different style of gameplay I find that to be a good thing. If you are the roleplaying type of player you'll find it to be a lot of fun. Plus it has the advantage of sparring and events for when you need a break from your rp. For those of you that don't care for rp servers, you just won't play there. Anymore than a person that doesn't like the grind of leveling as is on Zodiac. Good work Ziro, keep it moving along in the direction you plan and don't alter because a few people don't like this particular type of gameplay.

Is this the server that's supposed to look/feel a lot like Final Fantasy?

I hope this turns out well- everything looks good so far.

The name-system sounds good. You always need some sort of regulation if you want RPing to succeed. Look at GK... they left things kind of open on that, and it went out of control. Even people who consider themselves RPers on GK have some ridiculous names taken from other stories,movies,games, etc.

Chris Zakuto is not crazy (though, admittedly, Zakuto is a rather weird last name, though nothing compared to my real last name, which I won't state)

How are you enforcing the names?

Things like Chris, Paul, John, Sal, etc? Or do you need last names as well?

What if you have a crazy name, like Sir Johnauntinnapleneatspieforthewinontuesday in real life?

"join" families? I think it's better to let players deal with families themselves. Though, I suppose it would be nice if it could be controlled who has one name (several people add Zakuto after their name on GK and scam, etc. Gives us a bad name)

Was merely suggesting something along the lines of players being able to create families (which would have no other use then looks) and have other players joining them. Of course, you wouldn't be able to change more then say once a month or something.

It should work that way.
I see no problem with that as long as members can easily add more family members. To make it more realistic, he could do a generation-system. The first generation would be the creator + a possible spouse. Everyone added would be under that generation (the creator's offspring). Then, each member can add 1 spouse + infinite offspring (spouse not necessary for offspring). Only problem I see is if you want to start the family off as a bunch of brothers or sisters. To do that, there could also be an option, to have a sort of dummy-father/mother to the family (doesn't have to be a real person, just a place-holder). To add another twist to it, you could have it so males can have more offspring than females.

I guess that sounds okay, but I don't really like the idea of a hierarchy system like you laid it out. I'd rather just have a list of people, with one person with supreme control (cannot be removed, can do whatever) and then everyone can add, supreme can remove (and he can make supreme-ish people). Just an idea.

I dunno, I like the hierarchy idea... one ruler being able to add/remove people simply sounds like a dumbed down guild system.
Being able to 'quit' a family and join another... well that doesn't sound like a family at all.
