Black Screen while logging in

I was telling my friend over the phone to try out Graal, but when he tried to log in he told me that he just saw a black screen. He left it on and nothing happened.
Anyclue what the problem is?

If he's on the login server: Hit F8

It must be a bug on GK. I got several complaints about it. Stefan needs to check it.
Somebody should move the thread to the bug forum.

I would need some more information really: when does he see a black screen, is the computer getting a black screen (reset?) or just the Graal window, is it in offline mode or only when connecting to the serverlist, or only when connecting to a server (which server?). What operation system is it, what graphics card, could he post graal4console.log etc.

They stuck in level selectscreen.nw on GK. Restart or unstick dont works. Only when we warp them to strathouse and they restart, it is fixed.

Well for me when i try to get the server list doesnt give me it just black screen

Sorry for the late reply.
He can get on offline fine, it's just his Graal window. As soon as he hits login he tells me it turns black. I'll ask him what Graphics card he has, it's a pretty high Nvidia, I'm not sure what it is exactly.

My friend is having that problem to when he clicks start its a black screen no serverlist and hes done everything and nothing changes how did you fix it?

I just installed graal on my mum's puter.
It worked the first time I logged in, however every time I've tried to log in since (after reinstalls), I've managed to put in my username and password and click start - after which the graal window screen just goes blank - no serverlist at all.

Any help would be much appreciated!

Windows XP, which is also what I run at home, where it is currently still working.

yea mine is that way to i have an xp at my dads and here and my dads works fine but my moms doesnt

On my sister's laptop, she puts in her account name and password then presses start. The screen turns black and stays black until she gets disconnected. I tried with my account and the same thing happens. Playing offline works.

Specs:
Mobile AMD Sempron Processor 2800+ @ 1.6 GHz
224MB RAM
ATI Mobility Radeon Xpress 200

It happened to me yesterday when I was playing with gui controls and I had to reconnect. The screen just came up black. so I closed out all my programs made graal was 'high priority' then RAM flushed my comp. When I turned it back on, I stil got a black screen for 15 secs then it showed the playerlist. :o

Celarion: update the graphics card driver and try again please.
About black login screen: sometimes the login script is updated, but it's only a few bytes so it should not take more than a few seconds to update. I have no idea why it wouldn't show up. Eventually delete your weblevels folder and FILENAMECACHE.txt and try again. Also tell me if you have VIP (new interface).

Yeah, I'm VIP. I'll try updating her awesome S3 Trio and connecting at mum's again next time I'm over there. =___=

The interesting thing is that the first time I tried it, it worked perfectly. Every time thereafter - even after reinstalls and resets - failure.

I tried this and i could not find any weblevels folder but i deleted filenamecache.txt and nothing changed from before. I do not have VIP.

Hmm, I seem to be having this problem too, but only with Windows Vista (Win2k is ok). It started when 4.1 was released.

My video card is a nVidia 6600GT. I see the startup screen fine & offline mode works, but I only get a black screen after clicking start. Everything looks ok in the F2 log. TCPView shows that a connection is being made to the serverlist. I can't open any GUI windows (like the F5 window). I can open the playerlist, but no servers are shown in the Servers tab. I also tried deleting the filename cache & weblevels, but it didn't help.

Edit: It didn't download the new gui images. I tried putting them in (& deleting the cache), but that didn't help either.

Edit2: It doesn't seem to be downloading anything at all. The weblevels directory isn't being recreated.

Edit3: The socket closes when I put in an incorrect password, but I don't get a disconnection message on the client.

Ok Please test temp/Graal4.exe from the debug server to see if that version is fixing the problem

Graal will freeze under Vista if I open a PM window or history. Stefan thinks it is from the RichEdit control he's using.
