Things better old or new?

Well i have been thinking alot lately. And i have come up with the conclusion that i would take back everything i have gotten in graal and earned, for one weeks worth of the feeling i got when i was a noob. It was sooooo fun, the best time i have ever had playing a video game. On old bravo, me and my friend from school, Sion, would just play and play and play. I didnt know anything and it was so fun to learn new things and spar new people. Guilds were big back then, i remember being in Chaos Crew, this noobie guild, and the leader showed me where wars where and stuff, then i went and got a NPC that makes you invisible and i would spy on other guilds when they would have meetings and such. Then came along BTK and everyone, and i got in there, owned the server with them boys after that. Now that i look back on it, people say Graal is getting boring, i dont think its the boring part thats getting you, i think its the fact that your all experiance and have nothing else new to learn. Well thats my opinion at least. Thanks for listening.

If everyone who played could go back to when they were a newbie and play again (but now with graal2001) stefan would be a rich man.

yes, it was fun, but what u must remember is, when u were a newbie, there were oldbies to show u around, help u out, teach you to spar, adopt u into there guild... that is somthing which is becoming less and less of an occurance. i think as much as i hate to admit it, we take our newbies forgranted, if we trained them up, like we used to, perhaps they would know better than to run and heal.. ? i think im gonna stop pking ( 5000 kills!) and start helping newbies..... im turning into a goodie goodie!!!! lol

Here's my day as a newb:

I was walking in Classic (not then called Classic :-p) on a ledge. I went into this house where you said yes to get a NPC to change your sword to a lightsaber, but since NPC control wasn't too good, if you left it'd change it back to what it was.

That's all the memory I have of being a newbie.

Oh wait! I remember in Tyhm's Pub and remember being asked to be a Co-Leader of some newb guild. It was DoS... They're probably long gone now. Then I took a break and forgot ALL about Graal until I had to do a report on something that rhymed with Graal. Then I got home and voila, there were a lot of servers, and I was... stricken odd I suppose you could say. I hadn't played in the longest time so I figured I'd re-learn how to play. I went on this Server called Elven Lands where I met someone named Brekkian. I was asked to take him to Ghost Town (this was a week later so I knew my way around) and Shaggy was making houses for Ghost Town. He offered to make me a house and got it up. Granted, the house sucked. There were no good LATs given the tiles back then. Shaggy got me a house put up, and that's how I re-learned how to play Graal and to make levels again.

If you read any of that, you need a hobby.

Uhm, hehe... what do you think makes stuff boring? You have nothing new to do and you are no longer satisfied with current stuff because you are overplayed on it.

I have like all these accounts I make once a week. Then I go on them, do quests to see what is working and is not, and test the GPs ;]

My story:

I get on "Real World". I see a girl named Melissa and decide to go try and kill her. She has 20 hearts, an axe, and a black horse. I die in 3 hits. I then make my way and see a guy ducking under a bush and he taught me some things, and we kept doing this race thing. Then I quested for these gloves and made a sucky house and it got up the next day. I remember I could not save in RW which was horrible. The oldbies that knew the save in onlinestartlocal.graal bug would come in and give us items. I remember 5 of us newbies chasing Queeny Scoobie Doo (SP?) when she was in IZP on a motorcycle. We would always lose our newbie friends and they would rape our corpses :[. I joined DT on my first day of Graal (I have always been too embarrased to tell that :P)

My Story:

Well I was on classic before it was called that and I walked to the main part. But I got killed at least 48 times k?? And so this guy came to save me his name was like Jade?? Well anyways he killed them all off because he had his guild name StatiC come and help me :] And he tought me how to PK but it didn't really matter because I had a 28k modem with like NO GFX card! After he saved me he gave me a horse and I went about as fast as him :] But I was pretty clueless about graal because I was a total newbie! It took me a week to figure out how to login. And that's about the jist of my day :[

Curious. It seems half of the people hate how everything's changed now and insist I'm a bastard for making things such that nothing's as they remember - making them newbies. The other half hate the exact same thing - but because they don't feel the same way they did as newbies.

Back in the far mists of time, incomprehensible to the human mind (Or to put it normally around two years ago), I spotted a game called Graal, I read the news, I didn't actually download it quite simply because I thought there was only an online mode and I had a bad ISP which meant I had to pay for every online minute. And thus I left for half a year.
*Dramatic Pause*
After that time I had CABLE and no more bad ISP, thus I decided, "Well now that Graal game looked like fun, let us commence the download", and thus I did, and I started playing. And I didn't kill anyone, quite possibly the only non-GP person in ages to do so.
And I quested, I chattered an insane amount on toalls, send annoying jokes and polls over mass messages, and quite simply became the biggest non-trainer using pest Graal ever knew.
I still am that final thing ;P

Ah, memories. I feel Thym's changes have undoubtedly been for the better, but still... Being a noob was incredible fun.

My first account was... Helix, I think? Yeah. I got on Graal, entered the newbie house and became promptly stuck in a small room because, of course, I opened the box you weren't supposed to open. Back then, you couldn't talk for 30 seconds before saying unstick me, and half the time it didn't work, so it was a good 10 minutes before I got out. After I got through the puzzles and into Graal, I wandered around, having no idea what to do. I eventually entered a long passageway into the Graal Hotel (don't know if it's still there) and was promptly killed on the spot. After regenerating, I went back into the passageway to seek revenge, and found myself dead several seconds later.

I repeated this several times, until I entered the CC, which was also known as the buggiest area on Graal. I wandered through the town, and found another aimless noob, who asked me if I would be his friend. I agreed, and we got horses and rode them around, not knowing that they were supposed to eat bushes. We were both killed, and I met up with him later at the forest temple. After dying several times, I logged off and never saw him again.

I eventually bugged through the forest temple, and went onto the fire. After several toalls pleading for help (I didn't know how to mass message) a friendly oldbie gave me a hand, and I finished in. Somehow, I wandered back into main Graal, and walked down to the Zone. Some Elf guild asked me to join, which I assumed was a very high honor. Lag was great, though, and I never got to the meeting spot. There's a few other humorous anecdotes, but I don't feel like typing them out right now. A couple great ones, though.

After that, I quit for several months. I came back sometime last Spring with a new account to find a new town, a new map (which I finally learned how to use) and a bunch of other crap. Mildly surprised, I began questing again, and ended up joining Final Fantasy, ZEAL, and Unique. Zeal was the best, though it seems to gave lost it these days. Attacking and spying on ZEAL when I was in Final Fantasy, only to sell FF out (along with several of their secrets) was great, great fun. Then I upgraded, and the rest is history.
