They did walk around, I have plans for them.. I'll assume you weren't into pokemon to miss the huge factor of pokemon just walking around randomly, talking to them to hear them say pikachu! etc.

That was in later versions of the game, in the older ones, there was just three or four sprites representing all 151 Pokemon.

I hurt my arm when I was 8 or 9 playing pokemon on my gameboy for the first time cause I played it til the batteries died.

lol I literally kept my arm in 1 position for like hours and then the batteries died and I tried to move them and ran to my dad for help XD cause they hurt so bad.
