Also, a semi-hypothetical question: If I WERE to decide to purchase a VIP Membership after my Gold Subscription expired (which it will in less than fourteen days), would I still be able to upgrade my membership to VIP status without having to re-subscribe to the Gold Memebership? Or would I be able to upgrade to VIP without doing that?

You don't need gold to have VIP and "vice versa"....
