Sad it has come to this...

Well, as you are all aware there is a new system coming into effect regarding PWs. This also effects UC worlds.

Currently, I do not have the funds to pay for such a thing. This is why I posted this, even though I did not want to these extreme cirumstances have brought me to ask for contributions.

Any amount is greatly appreciated, I just want to keep SA alive, and as far as developement goes we are rolling on. Just released a new screenshot yesterday:
http://forums.graal2001.com/forums/s...threadid=45475
So that is to say, if I can get the funds then SA WILL be kept alive and eventually completed. I am now working double time on getting things done with this new system coming.
If I am unable to get these funds, then I don't really know what will happen yet, I just hope it will not come to that.

Well, thanks alot. I won't get into detail on why I don't have the funds, unless you want to personally know I will explain in a PM.

I don't know what else to say, other then I hope I can get the help. Anyone who contributes will get their name on a special thanks section of the credits.

If you would like to make a donation, please send it the paypal account:
[email protected]

Alright, thanks alot for your support everyone.

I'm in the same boat with Oasis... so if you want to donate something via paypal, just use the link in my sig... Thanks.

This paying stuff is getting ridiculous. It's never really an optional thing with Graal, they just force it on you. You either pay, or you don't play. You either pay, or you don't keep your playerworld. It's sad.

I can't imagine what they will make us pay for next... Excluding the forums from gold accounts and making us pay for those seperately?

This reminds me of the middle ages. Kings would constantly tax the peasants until the peasants had no money. Tax for food, tax for housing, tax for walking down the road, tax for crossing a bridge...

I'd send some money to both of you, but I am currently saving for a new laptop and some parts for a computer I am going to rebuild... I am ultimately going to need around 850-900$ =*(

Actually, the phrase was.
"$50 is nothing, go mow some lawns or go wax some cats."

Quite honestly, I think Oasis and Shifting Ages has been over-hyped. Like Maloria was.

Guys, $59 dollars for your own freaking playerworld for 6 months is not much at all. I work at a grocery store and make a welfare Canadian wage and I can still pay that 6 months off with half a week of work. That's about 12-14 hours of my job, after my union dues and obligatory fees. Now, supposedly, the most 'talented' developers are crying foul that it's a shame they have to get off their computers and get a real job where they make real money to become consumers in the economy. I'm sorry, I don't feel the least bit sorry for you all. I don't think that you're all 12 year olds that are too young to get a job or even run errands for your parents to make the occasional buck or two, I thought you were all mature grown up people that could suck it up and stop acting like princesses and pay your fees. Whining will get you sympathy and lots of frowns on the forums ( ) but it won't get you anywhere in life financially. However, at some point I will feel somewhat sorry for those that actually pay your fees so you can continue to develop your playerworlds because they could have spent it in a better way.

You are so damn ignorant. I typed the first time with detailed reasons, then decided you do not need to know. Then I typed a second without any details, then decided you did not need to know. I now type this, because you do not need to know my personal life. All that needs to be known is I do not have the money, and it has nothing to do with my having a job or not, because either way I would not have the money.

I am going to disregard your post, becuase you do not have the facts. I would not be asking for the money if I did not need it, and remember I am ONLY ASKING.

I want to say so much more, but you lack so much knowledge of life, and money, I am not going to bother.

I can't get a job at the moment. I have reasons, and no it's not because I'm lazy. Plus, the money I do earn, goes to things I NEED. Unlike people like Aftershock, who has their parents pay for everything, I do not have that luxury. I have to pay bills, pay for my own clothes, pay for my own insurance, luckily I don't have to pay for food (most of the time).

I don't have 60 dollars to just flush down the toilet, just so I can keep doing what I've been doing for months. If I have 60-100 dollars, it's going towards the things I need first.

Spark, I'm not showing anything for Oasis anymore. Because certain people *cough Tyrial cough* like to copy my graphics and claim them as their own. So thank him for stopping all future development snapshots of Oasis.

It always kinda amuses me when people talk about the things they 'need' to spend money on. Don't get me wrong, I'm not about to say that any particular hobby is inherently better than another. I just think that you don't need to spend money on insurance and clothes and telephone bills and heck-knows-what-else any more than I need to spend money on donuts

Oh boo hoo, the tears are streaking down my face for both of you.

Although I do not know the details of your financial situations, what I do know is that I do not have my parents pay for everything. I have to go to university next year and pay for my classes, I have to pay for my own insurance and when the time comes my own car, plus I pay for my own clothes, but you don't see me whining about all the expenses I have to pay off. And don't automatically assume that my parents pay for everything, that is a foolish assumption.

As for your financial situations, yeah it's a little silly for me to jump ahead and automatically assume you're both lazy, but what I can't fathom is that if you're so strapped for cash then why are you spending your time making playerworlds for an online game instead of working?

Most people's lives revolve around working, yes. Unless you live in Neverland, where no one grows old (unless you're Captain James Hook)*.

*or unless we're talking about Neverland, California, where you get to spend your nights with Michael Jackson in his land of fun.

Sure. Most people never go hunting, out with friends, to disney land with their family. Most people never have any free time. Most people just work 16 hours a day, and sleep the rest of the time.

Those people work so that they can have the money to have the equipment to go hunting, so that they can have the car that drives them to Disneyland. Most people work so that they can support their family, and that they can pay for those tickets when Disneyland comes around. Most people work so that they can have vacations, and do things with their family, instead of having to do just that; work 16 hours a day and sleep all the time. The basis of our civilization is work and effort, and if you do not produce large amounts of either, you get no where.

Life does not revolve around work, it revolves around our quest to find happiness, to say the least. Work is just part of the journey...but anyway. This is going way off.

You're going to sit here and mock me "complaining" yet you're doing the same thing in your post? Welcome to contradiction land! I'm not WHINING. I'm simply stating that I don't have the money to pay for this, and I'm asking for some support. I'm not complaining or whining that Graal shouldn't be making us pay, I'm just stating that I do not have the money, and I cannot pay the expenses when I have other things to pay for.

I don't spend all day working on my playerworld. I spend a couple hours maybe, total. I don't think life revolves around working. Heck, if you hit on a good idea, you can become a millionaire and never have to work again.

In my opinion, going out and flipping burgers is a waste of my time, when I could be spending my time learning more about game development, so that I can become better at the field of work that I would like to do. If I'm spending 8 hours a day bagging groceries or handling a cash register, at the age of 19, then I'm not going to have anywhere near enough time to properly handle my career.

It's funny, so many people (adults) tell me the same thing. That I need to get out and work every day and whatnot. Yet they are 40+ years old, and still working. I do not intend to be working to put clothes on my back when I'm 40. I plan on retiring early. In order for that to happen, I can't waste my youth flipping burgers.

YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELLY NO RIGHT IN USING 2230'S NAME AS IF IT WERE SOMETHING BAD UNLESS YOU ARE ACTUALLY ONE OF THE STAFF (like me and ghost pirate) WHO ACTUALLY KNOWS WHAT DID GO ON AND WHAT DIDNT GO ON

I hate you people who talk smack when you have absolutelly no right in doing so, people who do so are scum in my eyes

You go on ahead then, and spend hours of your day working on your playerworld and in the field of game development. Fortunately (or unfortunately, however way you look at it) I don't think I could spend the rest of my life working in front of a computer screen to earn a living, developing games and writing endless lines of scripts and making graphics. That's why I go to post secondary, to learn something I will enjoy and to make a living in that. And for the other 98% of the peons that will not become game developers, we go out and get jobs, whether they are flipping burgers or cashing at a grocery store so we can pay for our education and our standard of living and not ***** when things cost money.

It's funny how you mention it being a waste of your youth to work. You think that cashing groceries is all about scanning items and punching numbers into a computer? Over the last 10 months, I have learned an immense amount about customer service, dealing with people, handling tricky situations and working effeciently. The collateral knowledge that comes with such a simple job is tremendous, and whether I'm going to sit in a cublcle all day on a computer or deal with people on a regular basis, this will help me for the rest of my life. The foundation of your argument is shaky at best, as I'm sure there are thousands of other 19 year olds just like you that think they will have it made by the time they're 40 and will want to retire.

In reply to Aftershock's last post (I didn't feel like quoting the whole thing):

"Over the last 10 months, I have learned an immense amount about customer service, dealing with people, handling tricky situations and working effeciently."

What do you think a game developer does? They are totally in tune with the customer. They have to deal with people constantly, and they have to handle situations and learn how to work efficiently.

I think you're confusing something here... I plan on leading game development. Meaning I'm not sitting at a cubicle programming, or drawing, or anything of that nature. I'm the guy that is brainstorming the ideas, that is making sure things get made right, etc. Think Shigeru Miyamoto. That is where I would like to be one day.

I don't intend on working behind a computer for my career.

Oh boy, Konidias.. you really like to dirtmouth my name, don't you?

We spoke about this in debug, i told you i have NEVER copied your damn graphics, infact, i made them 5-6 months BEFORE you, so shut your damn mouth you ****ing idiot..

I was nice enough to offer some changes on my house tiles, but yet you talk crap about me, how about.. i tell you that i won't change squat on them.. will that make you happy? No?
Then zip it, you sure are stupid..

You think you're the best, and when you see graphics like your, it's allways that you are right, it's allways that they stole from YOU, don't you? Well.. what if i tell that i sen't in tiles like that to LordHelmut 5-6 months before you even came up with oasis, and say you copied them?

I don't see why everyone is complaining on me, it's my word against his.. so why shall i suffer? Atleast i'm giving him a fair deal, he agrees, but yet he dirtmouth my name..

And you tell Kai to use logic and common sense? Dude, i wonder if you even have it, heck.. even know what it is..

LoL, nice enough? You don't have a choice pal. Stefan told you to change what I asked you to change. He said they looked too similar, and told you to change them. So don't act like you're doing me a favor. If you don't change the tiles, you're tileset will never go online, and if it does, it will be offline within a week.

As for thinking I'm the best. No, I don't think I'm the best. But when I see graphics that look like mine, yes I'm going to say they stole from me, because I am me, and I obviously know that I didn't steal from them. Use your brain. I don't care what you tell me, it's not your word against mine. You can sit here and BS by saying you made the tiles before me, but where is the proof? I see old forum posts I made showing the house graphics from over a year ago. Where is your evidence? LordHelmut? I don't think another person saying "Oh yeah, he made them before Oasis", is enough proof buddy.

You prove to me without a reasonable doubt that you created the tiles first, and I will remove the tiles from MY server.

I don't talk on the phone very often. I've talked to my girlfriend maybe a few hours total on the phone, since I've known her. I hate the phone, but if I need it to be contacted, then I have to pay it. Don't assume I am "yapping with such people" for hours. That's rather ignorant. Besides, she calls me, because she gets free long distance on the weekends. :|

I said "want" for the camera and laptop. I did not say need. Please learn how to read, thanks. I need a car, or some form of transportation, other than my feet, or a bike, because there are no jobs near my house, as I live halfway up a mountain. A bus does come near my house, but I have no idea when, and it would still cost money to do that as well.

I do need clothes now. I barely have any as it is. It's not like I need clothes when I have 10 pairs of pants and dozens of shirts. I don't have that. Oh and for the insurance, I actually take certain meds that I have to pay for, which would be a lot cheaper if I was on insurance, therefore, I need insurance. So please do not sit here and act like you know everything about me or my situation, because your arrogance is your downfall.

I don't have any clue why you're bringing my journal posts into the Graal forums, you have no need to do anything of the sort, unless you're desperate to make me look like a fool, in which you did no such thing. Please understand that sometimes you are wrong about things, and learn how to accept that. Because this is one of those times, when you couldn't be more wrong.
Right, keep ignoring me.

Konidias, I applaud you for struggling to take care of yourself, and doing what you need to do....most of us who are old enough to work know what it is like. Kai doesnt work, he has admitted that, someone else foots his bills, so dont let him upset you
You are correct in saying that your needs come first, and I for one are glad to see a young adult (or older teenager, whichever you may be) who have their priorities straight. The world needs more people like you in it, and less bums. There is no pride lost asking for help when you need it, most of us have, or should have at one point in our lives.
Good luck to you and your staff, I hope it all works out for you
