All I know, is that I strongly dislike first-person perspectives. Because they really aren't first person. It's like gluing a box to some goggles and looking through it. You have no side view and no view of what is happening behind you. While in real life, you can usually tell when someone is behind you. I prefer the 3rd person look, generally scaled down a bit so you can see a good bit behind the player. Then you can tell what is going on all around you, and better judge where you are.

I mean sure there is strafing and you can just turn the mouse to look behind you, but you will always be blindsided on 3 sides which I can't truely say is very fair.

Some of them do it very well with sound effects, sences and things that make ti more real like being able to look certain ways.
