trggeraction

I recently encountered a problem when trying to use triggeraction on a 'putnpc' script
When i fired the weapon(yes, it was triggering the action at the coordinates of the NPC, i checked it) nothing happens, even though the action was happening at its coordinates.
Heres the tricky part, I set the triggeraction to do it at my position and when i walk up to the NPC and use it it responds correctly, I don't understand what the problem is. Please Help!
