grim_squeaker_x will become famous soon enough
This is because some 3d accelarator or GFX cards cannot handle certain operations in a windowed environment, they can do this in full-screen mode.
It's strange however that you are laggier in full-screen mode, I'm usually far lass laggy while running in that way, and (As far as I know) that's normal.

I think the best use of light effects are in the Zalactic Labs Caves... Especially when you fall down that huge water fall and you see the lanterns hanging overhead while you walk along the wooden walkways... (BTW: The rest of Zal labs will be completed soon........)

Also, I think there should be a system so that lights outside (ie torches, lanterns etc) should only turn on at night. It would look alot better than running constantly for no reason

2 side notes, both of which are pointless.
Side 1, A wide screen view would be cool.
The other side, If you use zoom (alt+8 and alt+9) lighting effects go off.

Side that was skiped over, I played a game once where it get super dark at night and you couldn't see much at all. Touchs/lights would light it up just like day time! When you walked near a light or someone with a touch your view get lighter as you got closer.
That's how touchs/lights should work. Just make everything darker that should be dark. Plus what Gonmon said.
