Hiring a few PR's

99% OF YOUR QUESTIONS WILL BE ANSWERED IF YOU CAN JUST READ THIS POST AND THE APPLICATION.

Due to the inability for the PR's on Era to be online from 2am-10am EST (give or take a bit), I am looking for players who are interested in being a PR. Although I am mainly looking for people who are from other timezones, I may still hire one or two who are are around EST timezone. This application is more of a test than you may be use too. I have provided real logs, from real people for you (names of course have been changed). This will be your first objective as a PR. If you can't pass the test, then please don't send in an application. Read all directions carefully and good luck.

Common words in logs:
Added Item (Recieved the item somehow)
Took Item (Picked up the item)
Removed Item (Somehow lost the item)
Laid item (Put item on ground)

I also recommend downloading Notepad++ to view the logs easier. (http://notepad-plus-plus.org/download) Thanks Chris or whoever showed that to PR's before

Open up PR Application. Eventually I ask you to go through logs and track an item.

People have this belief that PR's are simply just PR's and shouldn't be considered staff. When in reality GP's can destroy the server. They choose who gets banned, who gets a trade reversed, they can warp to storage rooms/houses, they can spawn weapons (not all Pr's but you get the point). PR's have alot of responsibility, and I am sick of those who get hired and quit within a week. This app has test that is from a real situation, so real that me, darg, and akeon had to spend about 5 hours reversing trades. I need that dedication from all my Pr's, and I will expect it if i hire them.

That's because people think being a PR is a easy thing to do, when it can be fustrating at times and expect an easy job. Sometimes it can be hard, and they are just too lazy and don't expect actual work. Good luck with the hirings

Looking at the file extension sometimes solves a question like that. Only sometimes.

Then open up the PDF. Some people are having issues with the word document. The PDF is the same thing, (Though you will still need the logs from the zip)

I do that because i try to avoid all biasness. I know that i am bias, and to deal with that i dont want to know ur acct name until the end of the app.

It's an honorable attempt at being less biased, but I'll argue that being biased for PR hirings is (in theory) a good thing. If you're hiring developers, bias doesn't help at all. You need to be completely unbiased in looking over and reviewing their works. However, a Player Relations team member has nothing to do with the development side. All they're going to be doing is dealing with people and representing the server as staff. So knowing -who- they are and knowing what their previous track records/personalities are like (far beyond that of just obvious ban records) is absolutely invaluable.

This is where knowledge of the playerbase is a very good thing. If you've been on the server for a while, you have a better idea as to who the deviants are. It's more than just looking up their ban records and seeing if they got the right answers on the application.

The applications for PRs have always been a complete joke. They tell you nothing about how a person will actually behave as a PR. Everyone except absolute idiots know the -right- answers, the question is will they actually perform them when faced with the actual situation? They can promise they'll be good, unbiased, blah blah blah. It's all just talk.

Giving them an assignment with logs is a step in the right direction, I'll give you that. It'll weed out at least a couple extra idiots.

The prs have been chosen, thanks to all those who applied. There mere fact that you attempted the test shows me your atleast dedicated and patient. I really liked alot of people but obviously couldn't hire everyone. In the event that a pr is fired/quits I'll will pick from these apps again. Thanks
