Anyone is free to participate in the weekly challenges I'm setting up !

Week 1:
Let's start off with a sword ! You will have to texture it.

You are free to:
-Choose your own palette
-Add extra lines to the sword (handle) while still respecting the outlines from the original image

You must:
-Finish the blade and the handle bottom
-Respect the maximum size of the whole sword, being the red rectangle
-Fully texture it.
-Respect the maximum number of DIFFERENT colours, which is 3 (ie: blue green red)

By 3 colours, is shading a gray counting for 3 colors or only 1?

I am also confused by the color rules. I asked, I didn't get an answer yet.

Ok let me clear =P

-Gray is considered as a colour if its clearly different than black
-When I said 3 DIFFERENT colours maximum, I was talking about the palette limit. You can of course use different shades of green if you used green in your sword as a colour.
What is not allowed is to color your sword with like red-blue-green-yellow, because they are all different colours and you'd need to remove one.

If you didn't understand this, then I can't do anything for you o.o

Oh good. Then I didn't break the rules with my latest submission, It's Shades of Gray, Shades of Gold, Shades of Blue. So that's 3.

i literally used 3 colors (3 shades of gray)

owell, that's the only reason i did this anyways because it was easy

i didn't notice the fact that the red rectangle should be the max dimensions, but if that's the case, count me out, it's way too small for me lol.

That's not a competition and there is no prize, just read the title, it's a CHALLENGE !

And yes, making it fit that red rectangle is part of the challenge too.

It's really just for fun, and you can participate whenever you have time.

ah, i see, well then this will be my entry, unless i make something better.

And the fact that it's a challenge doesn't mean anything, it's not really a challenge cuz it's not that hard to make a sword with kinds of shades fit in the red rectangle, making it look good enough to earn 1st 2nd or 3rd price is.
On pixeljoint they also have a weekly challenge, it's all about who produces the best artwork, with restrictions.

edit: or the 2nd one, i call it: The Crystal Crusherrrrr.

Yeah, I ran into that problem too. I wanted much more space than what was there.

true but I like short swords, makes them easy to implement and it fits the graal Char better

I am working on a classic server project and swords will be disabled and replaced by only a few custom swords that will be used as tools and quest items. So no, I'm not making all this to get new weapons without working myself.
