I helped someone do a mock-up for a game. The character design was fluidly based on pictures, and a description the guy provided me with.

I have a much larger color series using this style, that I often thought the same about. Shirts being one primary color, with the face on the front, and the "bubble" on the back. Bubble would/could include something... or something of that nature.

Might design it one day, if I do I'll post them here.
