For some reason this sword gives me maplestory vibes but reminds me of the kingdom hearts 1 sword from when your just beginning in the game in that one weird tutorial world where ur on those really decorated platforms showing of the game characters and stuff

I like AAing stuff and the blade itself isn't actually AAed much at all. As for the selout, these are for icons so trying to stick with an all black outline where I can.

Sword design is not my strong point.

I hope that yellow blade isn't made of gold

Otherwise, they look great, and they -do- have great designs.

Though icons may be a misconstrued term in this case. They're not intended to be icons, and they're not intended to be in-game swords either. However, they're just me drawing out of boredom and if they were to be used they would be for an icon or gui or some such(even though they're way too large to be).

And what's wrong with gold?

Oh, Gold is a terrible material to use for a blade, since it's heavy and very malleable.

Ah, well welcome to the world of sword physics in gaming :P Nearly all swords designed in games would be terrible as a real-world equivalent. Some range from just nonsensical, to just insane. I'm not saying I condone such illogical designs, but sometimes you have to put creativity above the limitations that you'd think of in the real world for the sake of more interesting design. In the end you can just say the blade is made of unobtanium or something.

I like em, simple and elegant. Though I'm not sure I like the gold streaks on the first one.

It almost reminds me of Chrono Trigger or FFVI when they make those cliffs that are supposed to be overlooking the sky or ocean (like in 65,000,000 BC, where you can look over the sky and see the Lavos star).

I hope you know art isn't all about correctness. It doesn't have to make sense, you make it because its fun and it appeals to your senses. Who cares if theres no correct this or that, if it looks good its looks good. end of story lol.

He typically does technical graphics (practical graphics for in-game). I'm confident Dusty has a pretty solid notion of "art".

looks good man!

Good quality stuff here. I imagine most of the pallets you get are from other graphics and stuff you see. It seems like all the dif styles and stuff seems to stem from a spar of insperation that you saw somewhere.

Like the whole reminded me of metal slug. It might not be related what so ever but yeah i remember seeing a peice of art from metal slug basically just a hole in the dirt. maybe there was tank treats close and a helmet possibly.

Lol, thats not what my teacher told me. It's what I understand from going to museums and talking to artists. There are no rules when it comes to art. Also, if you are just going to "copy" a real life image. It's really saying you have no imagination. lol you are a true artist when you can make something new and unique. So check and mate :]

You need a very thorough knowledge of the technicalities before you can pull off abstract and start 'breaking rules'. Simply, you need to know what you're breaking and why before you do it. Does that mean someone without knowledge can't pull it off? Not exactly, but if they were able to they wouldn't know why, and thus probably wouldn't be able to reproduce the same outcome again.

Silly kid, how old are you?

You've fallen for the idiot scam that "everyone is creative and has a hidden talent". Funny thing is that every teacher I know who's said that kind of crap can't even DRAW.

Art really is about "correctness", which is your juvenile definition of form, construction, design, composition, etc... If you can't draw, you can't draw anything creative. Got it?

By the by, I haven't seen anything imaginative or creative come from you -- so feck off please.

If you ask me defining the lightsource, the outline, the poses, the color pallets its all up to their individual creativity on certain subjects. That i beleive is what they mean by there is no exact way to make a gfx. The light source greatly defines the shading.

None the less, when we talk about shading to me that is more about "correctness" like you said. You need to shade specific parts a certain way depending on your choice of light source, texture shape.

Im no art teacher but i have been making gfx for ages. I just call that common sense.

I would say Art is something mysterious, we all like diffrent colors and styles etc. Many people saying that just a few people can make art and such, but that is wrong.

Art is fantasy, it is a way to expose your feeling, dreams, thoughts, anything! I draw just to get away from real life, other people may have other reasons drawing / painting etc.

Let the fantasies go loose! (Yeah, that sounds wrong...)
