that's cause the price was only 550 and there was a bug that dropping any item gave you points. (lol@Sales: "Is Cheese supposed to give points?") I doubt any person had 1000 pumpkins saved, if they did manage it they bought some, and then cried when they realized a hour earlier they could have traded in 550 flowers or something and gotten it.

There was no glitch (or at least any that spawned points). It was accepting any item and destroying the dropped item and even showing the message, but only giving points if it was a pumpkin.
