Custom isn't bad in some instances, like for right click profile menus instead of default profile. The custom nickname systems aren't bad.
Movement systems made custom are also a good way to prevent a lot of speed or wall hacking.

For Classic, I would scrap all but nickname and gc systems, maybe a couple other non-primary custom systems i cant think of now. Then work on building a decent movement system while retaining default HD

Custom can work, but damn Classic has a terrible history with them that makes it near impossible to have any kind of high hopes for it.
