New Graal Client?

I was wondering when VIP members will get these released to them. And will it automatically update when logging on, or will we have to download it from the main graal webpage?

It should be possible to have it download automatically, but I wouldn't expect it to be out anytime soon.

The client should be updated pretty soon. I know Stefan has fixed a ton of bugs in this new version so I think quite a lot should be stacked up.

Why would be it VIP only though? That doesn't make any sense since everyone should be using the newest version of the client in order to make things simpler for scripters...

(Having to script for more then one client would be very annoying)

:o Haven't seen you for awhile.

But that's what VIP is for, to help test new things...Thats what the whole extra $19 is for...

Maybe it should be pre-released to VIP as a sort of "develop for this version before it is released" type of feature. But the version of the client should only be allowed on non-public servers. It should probably be in a different .gupd package too such as "Graal Executable for Developers".

It would be nice to have updates as soon as Stefan introduces them to 'his version'.

I can play on hosted servers and get rc on development servers, without paying for PW's I dont like, GK and Zone. Thats totally fine for me.

That would mean an awful lot of client updates, which means an awful lot of bandwidth used on updating the client, and more chances that new things can go wrong.

Stefan releases things at the times he does for a reason; it's strategic.

If getting players hyped up over new content and setting release dates that are never met, not even within a month after the specified release date, is done so purposefully because of what you say to be 'strategic', then I must say we both have quite different interpretations.

somethings better than nothing. So he is strategically killing his game with lack of updates

The difference is that I am not ignorant. I do not attempt to nitpick everything that doesn't go to plan unlike you or the majority of the playerbase. I tend to realise that things are not perfect always, and that sometimes you need to work to the next best thing.

What you cannot seem to appreciate is that Stefan is solely doing a large portion of the work that happens on Graal, and that their resources are not unlimited. This isn't an invitation for a discussion about bringing in more people; it's been discussed before and it doesn't change the situation. It's just something that you should accept.

The fact is, is that currently there are quite a lot of things being developed. Maybe you cannot understand that there is logic behind releasing major updates which are tried and tested, instead of minor changes that are more likely to cause problems and distress amongst players.

someone call the waaaaaaaaaaaaahhhbulance!

But seriously, I do not think I want to download a new client every 5 minutes just to have a buggy untested effect pop up during play.

I can script lots of superspecial awesome++ things with the current client. It is unfortunate that a lot of you seem to be relying on updates as a crutch.

No, I understand it perfectly. What I don't understand is why they continue to throw these release dates at us if they don't plan on following through with any of them.

I guess it's hard for you to understand why player's are pissed over false advertisement.

I don't appreciate anything thats been coming from this game lately. Personally I couldn't careless who the hell has done the majority of the work. What I see in front of me is a game that people have payed and are paying for and thus we deserve our monies worth. If it doesn't get done, then prepare for all the damn nitpicking. The least this game could do for us is not fill out heads with a bunch of BullShinaz giving us a sense of false hope which never comes true. Which eventually adds up to the player base beginning to despise the game.

Personally we might as well throw out the name Stefan cause when people play games they play it for the games. They don't go around wondering who created what and how for the most part. Just get the work done or face the inevitable.

I couldn't have said it better myself.

People get tired of waiting for months, upon months, sometimes close to a year for a measly update. People wait so long the just quit. if they come back and it's there they may play for a month or so. but they will quit again from lack of updates. the "huge" updates they have aren't even worth upgrading for.

I didn't see a friggin reason to update from Graal2 to Graal3 and then v4 for this matter...
Tbh I like the release of GS2 and the new possibilities but for the leveling part (the only thing I can for a bit) I would like a new editor. I really could think of a Redo feature and support for GS2 and just completely drop GS1.
I know I know that that wont happen but a FEW features would rule...like a secondary tileset that one can use...that would rule...

GS2 support offline as well as a host of other nice features we will never receive have been discussed through nice means (see threads about it!) and through what I like to call aggresive negotations (See Spark/Unix situation no offense to either).

Also, as for your secondary tileset suggestion, is it that hard to just switch? Or do you mean two tilesets at the same time? I think that would fit along Zero's mad dash for tile layers.
