Body Armour?

I know its been brought up before, but I was thinking about it on my 2 day break, and thought I would make something.

The image that this is based off of is found on Zone, but was never used for anything important. Let me know if you can figure out what I made this from. :P

And please don't move this, as I want a discussion about if people feel body armour would fit in with Zone. I only made the graphic to show what we could use for 1.

Anyways, I was thinking we could have body armour that was like;

Name: Body Armour
Type: (equip)
Cost: 10k
Description: adds 50 hp to the user, only able to use it once until you get back to the dropship. (meaning when its 50 hp is gone, it doesn't show up in your menu until you either die, or warp back to the dropship)

(it would just show up over whatever the user is already wearing)

50 hp...I could stand a lot more bullets that way. I don't think it would be very fashionable with my current attire though.

Well, you could hide it under your shirt then have a little icon above your head saying that this person currently is protected by body armor.

I am talking about it's style of play. 50hp is a lot and if any of the "Elite" players get their hands on this armor then there is no stopping them.

A decent solution: The lower your rank, the more armour it gives you.

Example:
New Recruit- 50
Veteran- 20
Warrior- 10
Elite- 5
Legend- You don't get ****

Maybe the armor should just add 5 hp. It would still be useful.

Its just like using 2 medkits, except it would only be able to be used once per life.

once the the 50 is set to everypoint you lose of the 50 can't be refurbished. ex: you get hurt to 135 you can only go back up to 135, then you get hit to 85, you can only go back up to 100. hope it makes sense

Yeah, no ones had time to come up with such technology. Everyone would rather focus on better weapons than armor cuz n00bs r 2 ez.

so yea almost double the trial health they would never kill a p2p with armor

I don't think I've seen a trial fight one on one in forever, unless I'm laming of course. Then if I don't kill them fast enough, there ends up being like 12 newbs shooting me.

the point is that it is an unfair advantage. Even with two trials teaming it would be unfair. Thats literally both of their health and you probaly have meds and better weapons and more experience......

It would be unfair, but trials get to play for free, while we have to pay. $40 a year for 20 hp and like 6 weapons? Thats unfair.

Even though there's a section for it in the menu, we're probably better off without it, although armour that diminishes in protection the higher your rank could be interesting.

That would force players into not playing long, because they would want to keep the same amount of protection as they had when they first started. Not to bright an idea to lead players away from playing...

The armour is ingenious. It gives you real purpose to pay to play as it stands a trial can easily get a p2p, with the armor people would finally be able to say "lol u trial nub". It's a good idea to add 50hp but why not instead have it so it's 15k to buy, and you can only use it once an hour and once it's gone it's gone for an hour, but you can buy repairs to reduce the time like ammo, 1k per 5 mins, lowest you can get it to is 10 minutes. You can also repair it if it isn't broken and you return to the drop ship, you can pay 500 to repair it to full.

You all do realize, 50 hp is;

less than 2 full hits with appirces (72 dmg)
1 plasmasabre cut (52 dmg)
the same as 2 hits with crossbow (48 dmg)
less than 2 hits with redpistole (80 dmg)
less than 2 hits with apripper (80 dmg)
less than 2 cuts with carrot (60 dmg)
less than 2 cuts with muramasa (70 dmg)
about 2 bullets from photon (48 dmg)
5 bullets from smg (50 dmg)
less than 4 shots with lr (60 dmg)

50 hp isn't as much as you guys are making it out to be.

Chances are, the trials will either have a medic or medpacks/cookies/holiday item to heal with.

Too much to be added onto a P2P. It's basically people with 80% health fighting people with 150% health. Don't add this idea just for the sake of putting armor into the game. It's a terrible idea and will be poorly implemented if it ever reaches Zone.

Armour shouldn't give you more health, just weaken the blows. Perhaps keep it, but with armour on you only take 15% of the damage you would normally take, and the armour can only last 10 or so hits

Also make it realistic...i doubt body armor can stop a plasma sword unless it was body armor made of energy.

Why not change it so you just take 85% of the damage (rounded up) from standard bullets (Ripper, SMG, Apps, etc.) Make 3 sets of armor, one Armor takes standard bullets, one armor takes plasma bullets and the other cuts melee damage by 32%.

Good idea. Expanding on that, different weapons could be more "piercing" against armors. For example, if hit by an SMG bullet you would only take 50% of the damage. Whereas a chaingun bullet would tear through you doing 75% damage. And the metallicrifle could do 100% ;]

Should be two types of shields, energy and normal physical.

The normal one reduces damage from normal guns/melee by a small bit and the energy shield reduces damage by energy guns/melee by a small bit.

No protection should be supplied against bikes crashing into you, mechs stomping, or explosions.
