PNGs of that size are hardly gonna tax anybody's connections. You shouldn't force people to use a plugin just so they can see your images.

I like people using the flash plugin so you can see it in a size thats good for them, I have a 1600x1200 resolution so I am known for making massive images on other forums.

About these things
You can not simply say a program blows at images, vectoring can even do images like this
