It's hard to say now that whatever card game that you DO make now isn't a rip off of either pokemon OR yu-gi-oh, since both of those games carry alot of traits with them that alot of new ideas could also have with themselves, especially the elemental card idea. It's not going to hurt anything. Pokemon is a widely spread game now anyways. It's kind of hard to think of elements that the game
doesn't have.
