PKing on GK

Why does GK have PKing? Every other server does, so can't the people of Graal get along without killing each other for once? If people want to PK, they should go to Era or somewhere like that.
When Graal 2002 Alpha first came out, it was great. Noone PKed each other, noone insulted each other, even the newbies RPed, and if you needed something, you could ask for it and someone would most likely give it to you. There was no distrust, stealing, scamming or kill stealing.
I. personally, feel that it would be better if PKing was removed. For example, say that some guy has spent 3 months levelling up to about level 8/9. He then decides to go into battle mode to go and kill t-rexes and get the max amount of exp from them. However, as he walks there, a lame level 38 powergamer with "leet skills" and good items PKs him. And again. And again. And again; etc. Within 10 minutes, he's back at level 1 again, wasting 3 months of his graal time. That's unfair.
Maybe at least we could go back to saying /peaceful and /battle to switch modes. I know it would be used by people to escape PKing, maybe even used by PKers, but then there would be no PKing, so it would be fine by me.
So post your feelings about this topic here.
