Account Security At Risk
|
Hello,
The GraalOnline administration would like to inform anyone who has recently dabbled in the use of any illegal Graal programs (hacks, trainers, bots, etc) have put their computer and account to severe risk. We never support the use of such third-party programs and the people who have decided to break the rules have put themselves at heavy risk.
We have identified that some of these programs being used to cheat are botnet clients and have gained access to your computer and your account information. A botnet is a network of compromised computers used to perpetrate e-Fraud or commit other cyber crimes such as DDoS attacks. The information is being sent over an open connection back to the original host who runs the anti-Graal websites.
We have also seen a drastic increase of accounts being stolen from people who have downloaded such programs from the anti-Graal websites. We urge our players to continue to play Graal legitimately, and do not use third-party cheating programs because they will always put your account and private information at risk. There is no such thing as a legal cheating program.
If you believe you have been a victim of such happenings, one way to check is to look at your process list (ctrl+alt+del > processes) and see if you're currently running windowsupdateservice.exe (note: this is subject to change, and is not guaranteed to be the infected file). If you are running it, then you are infected. It may be hidden in some other files as well, so you are not safe by just killing the process, you need to delete the file as well. There are most likely other components of the infection that may recreate itself after you reboot your computer.
We assume that typical anti-virus software (AVG, McAfee, Avira, etc) will be sufficient to remove the threat but do not guarantee it's accuracy. If we find special removal instructions for the situation, we will notify you by this thread. After you believe you have cleared up the infection, and you're sure, it is strongly recommended that you change all of your passwords and pay close attention to your billing statements if you make online purchases. These guys are not just interested in your Graal account information, it is well known that they are interested in credit cards and any other information they can get. The only way to truly make sure you're secured is by reformatting your hard drive and then changing all of your passwords and information.
Thanks,
Playerworld Administration |
