People are bound to find out the secrets behind the medals anyhow, why take the time to hide it when you know one saddo will get them all and post how he/she got them all? Making them actually be used to display true skill/laming would be better than hiding a bunch of 10kill req medals. Personally i think only bounties, kill/death ratio, event weapon kills/rank, and deathmatch should have medals. Seriously using a medkit doesn't shout 1337ness 2 me...
