Perspective

I am still having alot of problems with perspective. I just can't seem to get shading/proportions (In terms of the top/side views in an image) right. How'd you guys get over this? I know alot of people ahve same problem x.x

[Edit]Case and point:

A dog before (Made 2 years ago) and dog after (made today). I am just wodnering does anyoen else thing the perspective is still kidna funny? 0.o

Yeah and as Haunter mensions below, some sort of actual proportion would help =(
