Monster idea
|
I think GK needs a type of monster, in short magic lords with good speed.
Poison Mushroom Lord: does poison and physical damage via magic, same gfx as mushroom lord but recolored more green.
Electric Bomy Lord: Electrical damage via magic, same gfx as the blue bomy that has that outer electric glow when it attacks you, enlarged.
Ice Bomy Lord: Ice magic damage, enlarged snow bomy gfx
With each of them, I suggest a speed comparable to a player speed of 4 to 5. Every monster in GK is painfully slow, speed is a major combat factor and fast monsters would be a good idea.
As far as where they would be found, a very basic underground level would be easy enough to make, there is a dungeon generator I think.
For exp, I really think they shouldn't have more xp than a normal lord, maybe even less. The reason to hunt them would be that the electric bomy lord would drop an electric bomy lord skin (normal skin recolored dark blue) and when combined with a bomy lord helm, would make a bomy lord helm with 5% electrical resistance. Similar for the Ice and I haven't thought of anything for the mushroom.
One other thing, when a lord gets below 25% HP it should run for its life, making the player have to corner it in a tunnel to actually kill it, or have a strong party.
Last thing: these should attack like magic but not be interruptable the way demons and other magic monsters are, its too easy to cheap them with rapid hits. The compensation would be that the magic attack is limited to the area the lord touches - instead of a wide range of area. They may be found in groups up to three at a time, making it a bit harder to fight than normal lords.
The bulk of the code and gfx I think are in place for this type of monster, and players have nothing that are dangerous to fight (other than players) once they reach lvl 25+. |

"Why, of course! It's just a name, like the Death Zone or the Zone of No Return. All the zones have names like that in the Galaxy of Terror."
