Snowfalling...

if you have seen adams partical fountain script it is really neat, i would like to know if i can make something close to that only it would use the lights as snow, and was wondering if there may be a simpler way of mkaing it because alot of stuff besides movement in adams script was confusing to me, if anybody can give me the main commands to get started that would be a great help, thanks.

Not that mine was particularly advanced, I will be VERY irked if he took credit for what I showed him.

i think it was adam who made a thread a lil while ago with a partical fountain light animation... that you could move around, anyways, do you know what commands i would need to make the lights for a simple snowfall using them?

I think we need to begin to close these threads, just telling them timeout/for loops, and showimg isn't going to help them, then they will ask how to work a for loop, then if we say use arrays, how to make an array, the questions will never stop comming, this script is out of this guy's league

One could argue that asking such questions is a good route to learning, rather than the person giving up and stealing someone else's script.

I refer to people who steal scripts and use them without even looking/trying to learn.

Yes, but if people cannot ask questions about things that are above their level of comprehension, then what do you think they will do? -_-

1)Steal
2)Make someone else make
3)Make someone else ask questions

Which is why I pointed out the flaw in what Jagen said. I can see his point - but I would rather people asked questions to attempt to improve their scripting abilities than to do any one of those three things. Who knows, some of them may even learn.

You are practically saying if someone is in algebra 1 they should be able to learn something like calculus by asking questions, but they really can't, they need to know trig and advanced algebra first, if one asks questions about everything, they will continue to ask questions, they will use these forums as a crush, every time they run into a problem they will ask for help instead of using trial and error

...except there's no calculus in arrays or for loops. They are remarkably simple concepts.

it was just a comparison, my point was if someone in algebra 1 really wanted to learn calculus, they would have to learn advanced algebra and trig first, if someone wanted to learn how to make a swaying snow motion they would have to learn the syntax of some commands, some math, arrays, and a few other things, he isnt really learning if he asks how to do them all I think =/ like I said before, if you have someone always help you, you will start to use them as a crutch, as in every time you run into a problem you will ask them for help, which makes it so you don't truely learn, or do you disagree?

It depends on the extent of the assistance, though. I will explain how to use a command - that teaches them how to use it, and from that point they do not need to ask any more about that command, they will have learned it.

As for your "just a comparison" - What is the prerequisite to learn what an array is?

im on the etempt to learn, but im having trouble finding some scripts to learn from, because most of them being posted are pretty complex, also, i have a quesiton about for(). is it a command like in order for the operation to happen, the requirments must be filled, or am i way off?
