!fourm Spellcheck!

it would be really nice if somehow this fourm got a built in spell check.
i don't know if there is one already scripted for vB, but it would really really improve the reading here :P
and it would make people look alot more intellagent, (like me) because my spelling isn't really all that great ;x
but anyways, what do you guys think?
yes, it would be great.
no, you already know how to spell, waste of time.

Yes, there's a free spellcheck hack over at vB.org, but I don't know how it'd cope with this old version of vBulletin.

It should work okay =]
And my spelling is fine, its just my typing thats not 100% as Im mostly touch typing and if I go fast I knock a wrong key or the letter end up the wrong way around: (e.g: teh - Instead of 'the')

The american keyboard setup is weird, I like the Spanish one better, but that's just me.

I guess it's how you was raised. You just grow accostumed to the keyboard layout you use.

Why would they design a keyboard to slow the user down?
Surely the faster the user can get the job done the better.

Easy. Manual typewriters can stick, and they do that less often when letters that are commonly used together are separated.

I understand that the Dvorak keyboard layout is more efficient for computer keyboards, but even if I managed to find one, I'm rather good with QWERTY and don't want to learn to type all over again.

Perhaps a spellcheck button would rid us of the word "fourms," which is supposed to be "forums" but looks like "forms." I'd suggest to the people who simply cannot type "forums" that they use the equally-correct (if not a bit moreso due to history) plural "fora."

(And yes, I know that it's probably a joke in the title of this thread)

Dvorak IS more efficient, actually. Faster speeds and such. I'm still learning it, though; whereas on Qwerty boards, I type at 110+~ WPM, on Dvorak layouts I'm a meager 50.

I like the idea, but the only problem I see is that the English people could occasionally get picked on by the spell checker for English-spelled words

Don't see why.
I assume it could use the Microsoft word spell checker thing where it recognises both ways of spelling words.
It wouldn't be Microsofts it would use but I assume it would be something almost identical.

I love the idea, but when you think of it, it wouldn't work. You would try to spell something, mess one letter, and spellchecker would change the entire word to something different than what you wanted it to be. Mabey if you spell something wrong the word is hightlighted or underlined?
