Screenshot - Shifting Ages Forest

Well, haven't shown much. A TON of progress has been made, and I just decided to show a screenshot of a forest. Once progress is further, there will be animals roaming about, and monsters killing some animals, and players....

Well, here is the screen. Tell me what you think...the technique I used for it gives a rather nice effect.

(Please note - I would rather not yet add light effects, but when I do there will be many light effects making the forests, and everything else, alot better. )

Heh, well NPC/Tileset mix.

The head...I liked it and kept it. To avoid people looking at that instead of what I want them to, I hid him. Plus, I like adding a little mystery to the screenshots hehe.

Looks pretty good in most parts.
The skinny trees in the top left doesn't seem right and neither do the branches with the green leaves, and the tops of the trees are a bit awkward looking.

Everything else looks great.

Yeah i just noticed..... the background trees have barely any color while the trees in between are lively and bright

I think you need more variations of flowers. The constant white flowers take away from the over all atmosphere. Also at the bottom and top where the treeline connects, it is messed up. Try to align it better. And, You should also take Konidias's advice and at the button inventory either make another text that is down and left from the original one pixel or make the letters on the graphics, I would suggest the later.

Over all Shifting Ages seems to be coming together and I can't wait to see it on the PW list, good job and keep up the good work.

I think that's because he's trying to have players focus more on the area you can walk in rather than the background. I like.

Smart guy Actually, I learned to do that from a walkthrough on pixeling I read a while back. I think it works nicely...but the true test will be when everyone walks in the world online.

I like the effect. It gives it character. I hope the whole playerworld looks that good, and I hope you have nice NPCs, if you have those, you will have a good chance at success.

Well, considering I can script nearly as good as I can make graphics, I wouldn't worry ;-)

? Wtf? Why did you give me script? After replying to that post, I take it as a insult. I already have a script completed, and it so happens to be much more optimized then that.

Kaimetsu, get over yourself, holy crap. You really have a problem. The point of my post was to let them know I am capable and able, and above the average scripter, but wow look at yourself, you can insult a sophomore in highschool, who is 16, WOW KAIMETSU WAY TO GO!

Heh, I leave that in the players hands to decide. I actually am not showing much, compared to what I have, but I am hoping that doesn't happen.

It wasnt ment to be an insult, more of an opinion really, it was showing you how I thought that it would look better, the script could be more optimized but it was done quick and careless.

So? he doesn't have to go around saying it, wow, he might be the best scripter, that doesn't mean he can go around saying that others aren't, there's no point to it, and Tseng...I haven't seen him do anything brilliant.

Dude, man, stop being so insecure. The simple fact is that you're not as good at scripting as you are at drawing. You're not particularly bad at scripting, but you are excellent at drawing. If you were as good at scripting as you were at drawing then you'd be one of the best scripters in the community, and you're not.

Tseng has done some pretty keen things on GBM, and he doesnt show his stuff off in the NPC Forum so that is why you haven't seen any of his from him.

Alright, I am sorry, I overreacted. And thanks I guess...

I just started as a scripter. I was never a graphics maker before, and scripting was my thing. The people around me were impressed by my scripting, and my graphics. I am used to seeing them as equals, when they aren't.

Well, I am not saying I don't script. I have helped alot of "well known scripters" script, and I am more then capable. I am just not as known for it, as none of my work has ever really been seen.

I think I was better than Bruges. I don't know enough to know for sure, though; when we were on NW he mostly just made apps to help level-makers etc. I know my pathfinding was better than his
