Mines? There goes RPing.

No, I'm not here to complain about the "rock stealing" on 2K2, since I don't believe it exists, nor am I really going to complain about fighting in the mines, and although I wouldn't do either myself, I wouldn't complain about anyone who did.

This is about how RPing has gone to hell because of fighting in the mines, multiple times I have been "attacked" and had people attempt to "steal" my rocks (although mostly unsuccessfully, as these newbies to rock stealing are neither smart nor strategic). Okay, this is fine, a little annoying, but okay, except for one thing, about 50% of the time it has been by someone WHO IS ALSO IN DUSTARI. I don't really mind someone in Dustari "stealing" my minerals (Good to spread the wealth in your kingdom, right?), but attacking someone else in your kingdom? A little overboard I think.

Oh well...I already know what's coming from this thread.

Couldn't agree more. However, most people just pick the first in the list to play it as quick as possible. When kingdoms REALLY go up... then all will be settled.

this is why we need a money system, so we can hire guards to keep the mine safe!

This post isn't about mining, or rock stealing, it's about people fighting within their own kingdom.

Dont you understand a static money system will ruin the economy unless it is run by an actual player organization who only print money they can back. If its just an endless supply of paper money or coins that have no use other than buying stuff then the economy will experience Hyper-Inflation!
The economy works now because lets say I have 10 axes which I dont need, now if i really wanted a scythe i might trade 2 axes for one but i dont want a scythe I want a sword so I might trade 2 axes for a sword, so depending on the situation things will have more or less value to me, but with paper money the money just has the value that is printed on it because it has no alternative use other than buying stuff.

Speaking of monies... My step dad got a 1957 silver certificate as a $1 bill today...

They haven't been printed for almost 50 years :O

Actually, money could easily work in the economy, as long as it doesn't become the main source of currency. For example, some npc shop owners only except durbies, and not gralat, or some things you have to trade with other items, or buy them with different resources.

If gralat become the number one independant currency, such as every store takes gralat for their items, then it would ruin everything just like 2k1.

About the RPing, I'm positive that roleplaying isn't mandatory, which means 2k2 will continue to have people like this until they at least set some rules that everyone has to follow in order to make RPing enjoyable. If they made everything have a meaning and stuff than it would work.

Like mentioned in another post, instead of having some magical non-pk zone, have the players remove their sword before they can go inside. Have guards or something that lock you up for stealing people's rocks and stuff.

I mean in a real setting, you wouldn't see people run up and steal my rock while I'm packing 3 swords. They would leave in little pieces. But here, they can steal your rock, and you can hit them 100 times as they just laugh at you.

Talking

On behalf of my Kingdom, I'd like to say that a very large # of those "thieves" were never really in dustari. They just saw this as their chance to put "of Dustari" in their nicks. So don't blame us...

Yes I know that they probably chose Dustari on G2k2 but they still aren't official citizens yet.

Nobody is in a kingdom. Most people think RPing is "I HATE DUSTARI", even though they chose Dustari is in the main kingdom. Untill tags go up, Nobody is in anything. Unless everybody roleplayed.

The only sort of RPing on 2k2 at this time is when two Dustari citizens bid each other good day, just to find that there is nothing to RP about except farming, lumbering, mining, etc. When I actually want to roleplay, oddly enough, I go to NEWMAIN of all places. Just to find that everyone has fled to 2002 where there's nothing to do.

True...but that is what the majority of roleplaying is

Most of us leave NPCs to act as shop keepers, kings, etc. It's hard to find people that are willing to play the role of a shop keeper or farmer and that being their main purpose...never getting to do anything else like battling evil mages hellbent on ruiling the world. Most of us just don't go for that

Question

Couldn't we jus add no-pk zones? I don't care about rock stealing but when it comes to randome pking it's just annoying. Also, I'm in dustari in 2k1 but i wear samurai clothes in 2k2 because they look better, I don't think it really matters what kingdome you picked in the begining, most people just want the cool looking cloths, other thanthat the kingdome system has no apparent purpose.

Well, if Marketers were interested in RPing, then maybe shop keeper would work, but non-fighting RPing "jobs" would appeal to people like me who used health advantages to win fights.

Blah. Why not just set a certain amount of gralats, and then never add any more? For example, say the bakery is given 1000 gralats. When a player is paid for making bread, the store loses the amount of gralats they pay, but gain the amount of bread the player makes. So now, the store has only 999 gralats, but has one bread that it can sell to players. When a person buys that bread for two gralat, the store's total gralats is increased to 1001, but it has no more bread to sell. 2k1's bakery has a similar system, where it can only sell as many breads as the players make, but it has an unlimited amount of gralats to give out, which is why the 2k1 economy is so screwed up.

I was actually quite shocked, upon upgrading to P2P, that this kind of system has not yet been implemented into any existing playerworld.

That is NOT what I meant.

What I meant is that all I have SEEN is two dustarians waving to each other. I guess that didn't come across well eh?
