Message: To whom it may concern of the Graal 2001 Community:

Apparently this does not affect any of you guys due to the fact you have p2p accounts, even so I have many grievances; which until now, I have not made public on these forums. The recent announcement of $15 charge has sparked much attention on many of the servers and forums. Although in retrospect of Graal we have seen many "promises". One of the promises of Graal when it began is that it will always be free. Perhaps many of you do not remember this; however, it still remains very clear in my mind. Moreover, as we have seen in the past, Unixmad's promises have often been broken. Free Graal will remain a figment of anyone's imagination.

Now we are faced with the problem of the service of Graal. Unixmad claims that he is in need of money and so raises the prices on p2p accounts and now; forces the player base to pay. All with me so far?

Unixmad is currently sending threats to sue the Open Graal project (which I might like to add is being coded for educational purposes). In fact, he is getting a "group of lawyers" to protect the safety of his game. Amazing! In need of cash, yet he is willing to spend tons of Euros to keep the integrity of the game! After all he is protecting his game right? His original ideas and designs right? He's protecting his work right?

Here's where Unixmad has crossed the line on his hypocritical business practices. He is willing to sue a kid for creating a program that will allow people to play Graal ON ANY SERVER. However Unixmad and Stefan himself have taken battle systems/npc ideas/quest concepts/and graphics slightly modified from Zelda a game copyrighted by Nintendo Inc. This is just the tip of the ice burg. They stole New World for Graal 2002. They have taken your ideas, graphics, and levels and have claimed them as their own! You own nothing on Graal according to their rules, everything is subjective! You have been banned from the server for unjust accusations; if they do not like the posts on this server they will simply delete it or ban you.

In conclusion, I want you guys to ask the question. Is Unixmad really in need of money that badly to raise the price of Graal/steal ideas and concepts/and sue people over it? You guys decide.

- yufrontme
Is that why Rival was made? Is that why tons of little servers everyone has were made?

Unixmad will make more money Removing open graal and removing unjust people. He will make less if he just lets it go. People will go to free servers, and hackers will prevail.

Its illegal.

Graal looks like a copy of zelda. SO WHAT? There are so many MMORPGS that look exactly like other games.. just only MULTIPLAYER. So whats the difference?

The person who wrote that letter... They need to think more.

No one said it wasnt never more profitable, but most people just dont think Graal is worth going through the trouble of paying for it. If you were to pay for an online game, wouldnt it be something which is a hell of alot better than Graal, like Everquest or Ultima Online? Hell, you dont even have to deal with curuption or bad management on those games.

Nope, they actually have professional management and staff members. Graal doesnt, lol. Best staff on Graal I think are/is Stefan, Tyhm, DeathScyth/Kyle, and the Classic GP's. FAQ's, Event team, etc can go to hell.

A question for those who think graal will last forever if it were free....how are they going to pay for the servers, time, and effort put into the game? Ads do practically ZILCH to pay for a service or a server...they are best used to supplement income. Even though ads have become a little more intrusive, they still cannot generate enough revenue to sustain an online game like Graal.

What are they going to do when the money from Classic runs out? Will they break there promise and make you pay for it again or take it down? I think so. Graal hasnt keep many promises or whatever. Ads atleast will be getting them money and keep getting them money.

Open a PM window some day on a free, nonstaff account.

See that ad?

Fat lot of good that did us.
And Rival...yeesh, don't remind me. I'm still chuckling about how that owner threatened to sue the guy DDoS'ing him. Shoot, I'd pay $15 just to see that case...

"Yer honorableness, the defendant attacked my server, with which I was hosting unlicensed levels on a stolen server!"
"Uh...huh?"
"Well...but the copyright owner's French, that means I can do whatever I want."
"...yeah."
"AND HE HACKED ME!"
"*sighs* Young man, it's called poetic justice. I suggest you purchase yourself a dictionary."

To make it easier to understand (at least this is how I understand it) ads are like gambling. You are betting (and hoping) that so many users will click on your ads. Chances are, what you want and what you get are 2 different things which means, more often than not, you are losing money instead of gaining. For those who didn't know, there are more real staff members than just Stefan and Unixmad. They have to get paid as well plus, the expenses of the servers, electric bill, etc. Please tell me they could afford at least one server on ads alone....wait...you CAN'T!

One thing though, will people who have paid for the Graal2001 still need to pay the $15 for the other servers?

As unixmad said, those already having paid or have currently upgraded their account for p2p services will get lifetime membership status

I didnt think you were talking about Graal as a whole since most of us are talking about Classic, and thats what im talking about. I could care less about the other servers, Classic should remain free, the adds and the other servers could be bringing in revenue for Stefan and Unixmad. I would rather have Classic free but there still be p2p servers, maybe have it so when you log in to your p2p account, the adds arent viewable.

doesn't matter, with people simply freeloading that's money down the drain...technically, it still will be free, just your player data is not saved

To the people complaining:

I would love to see how you would go about hosting a mmorpg with over a dozen servers on it, and 1000's of users online a day eating up so much bandwidth that it would make your head spin. You couldn't run that from your home computer.

It takes serious server power to run Graal, and I highly doubt unixmad and stefan are rolling in money and laughing at everyone paying.

All of the stupid illegal Graal server projects crack me up. Educational purposes? You're backing all of your faith into that? Maybe you need to go GET an education. That's like saying "I'm going to completely take apart Windows, modify it, and give it away for free, oh and I can do this because it's for educational purposes"

You have to get the owner's permission before you can use their code for ANYTHING. You have not done this, you have stolen code, and then claimed you're only using it for educational purposes along with your "donations" on the side.

Back on the subject of paying.. Fifteen dollars is NOTHING. If you can't afford fifteen dollars, why do you even have internet access?

You play Graal on a daily basis, you get enjoyment from the game (obviously), yet you're going to riot when you have to pay a measily 15 dollars for LIFE.

People dish out over 25 dollars a MONTH in order to play ONE online game, where you're 1 out of 1032412412 other people playing, and you have no personal identity at all, your work (levels, scripts, graphics) would never get online, you couldn't run your own playerworld, you couldn't talk with the creators and owners of the game personally. You would be another face in the commercial gaming crowd. That is what holds Graal apart from so many other games. That is why it's worth 15 dollars.

If you don't think it's worth 15 dollars because you don't like how the game is managed, then why are you complaining anyway? LEAVE. We don't need people that hate Graal, playing Graal. That is why I love the fact that all people will have to pay now.

I will ignore your entire post because when I said 'that person wasn't thinking', I was referring to the one from the n-pulse forums or whatever, not you. The person obviously wasn't thinking or was just another ignorant kid who can't understand simple things.

I did not say you can't have an opinion or post your thoughts... I am all up for hearing what people have to say. I may not like what they say or what they say may be stupid (to me). But I am not some ******* who doesn’t listen to others opinions or thoughts on a subject.

BRAVO.

Although, that's most likely $15 American, which translates to about $30 Australian. And that will turn some people away, unfortunatly.

I got an idea the people that complain about all of this are wasting there time because stefan and uni wont change it . Think of this change as a get rid of noob change , if you dont ahve a p2p ur a noob . j/k but you should get one they are worth it so lets just sit back cuz we still have like 2 months until it changes (i hope i'm correct) and enough with this armagedon of graal crap k? good

im gonna wait and see how the changes go before i past judgment, and 15$ isnt that much at all. Other online games cost alot more and have alot less stuff then graal and isnt as flexable.

There ARE MMORPGs better than Graal, there's no denying it. They tend to cost a lot more however. >.>

I bet they are, and they're playing Mario Kart while they do it, too!

Even if it was $15 American and you live in Australia, or the EU, or even Canada, it's not that awfully expensive. Most games you pay for cost about 40-60 and you get those for life too but most of them do not change and evolve as time goes by. Graal is always constantly evolving, constantly updated and that's why it's really worth the money.
