An Update!

Here is something I just started on today. Its the outside to my castle for my PW, Doragon Koden. I still need to add detail to the outside and get the inside all put together. There are lights but the graal didnt capture them when I took the shot. Also has a working gate that opens and closes

I have also pretty much finished adding the level details I wanted. I still need to go and link the outer rim of my map to the middle...Im so lazy

Kingdom Tryouts are still going...just pm me what you want, Shadow, Water, Fire, Earth...and which quadrant of the outer rim you want, TopLeft, TopCenter, TopRight, Left, Right, BottomLeft, BottomRight.

Anyway... what does a kingdom "tryout" entail? I'd like to start a shadow kingdom, for thieves (I won't worry about unimportant things like the name, for now). It would probably be best in the north, which is the easiest place to put mountains... no, actually I'll leave that for the Earth kingdom. I'll take the northeast, please.

They are the regular castle tiles (yellowish ones). All I did was recolour and use addtiledef. I also have some neato surprises inside as well

As for Kingdom Tryouts, Use this map to pick a quadrant:

Also, the kingdoms are elemental based, so shadow is the opposite of my kingdom, the kingdom of light.

The name Kingdom Tryouts pretty much explains itself. All you do is pick the available kindom (Shadow, Earth, Fire, Water) and one of the 7 remaining areas on the outer rim of the map. PM me here with the kingdom, map area, and your email address so I can send you the levels for that area. Then all you do is develop that area into your kingdom with levels and npcs. This is to help me save time and to get Doragon Koden submitted faster. Though the kingdoms do not have to be ready when I submit because not everything will necessarily be ready anyway.

If you win, the kingdom is yours to rule and name

That map is sweet. Are you gonna have alot of warp rings? cause thats alot of swimming.

Warp rings are cheap. They make it easy and take off having to walk. I do think some kind of transportation would be needed (Boats, Dragons, etc) but warp rings are the past. I do believe in having one warp ring just for people who are stuck and for some reason unstick me wont work (like the level is down or somthing)

ToT tiles where? If you are talking about the strange looking tiles, I did those myself cause there wasnt anything in the tileset that I liked for what I wanted.

If I need an image, usually, I make it myself...if its easy to do (not complex). I even went through my tilesets and marked out the tiles that I havent used with Blue for pass and White for block so I can fill them in later when I need to. I don't appreciate being subtley called a theif

Sorry, gotta use boats to get to the other islands on the outer rim of the map. There will be hidden passages to some islands...maybe a few magical beacons

...so that I dont have to use warpto all the time.....

Too bad I was joking. ^__^ Personally, I'd really really like to see some sort of easily controllable Raft NPC...Or something like that. Or maybe Sea Dragons.

Bad idea for 2 reasons....1 its pokemon.....2 it would make me look bad for using it.....3rd (oops

) I can be more original than that with very little effort most often.

I am working hard to have original stuff and to do things with tiles that I have yet to be seen done

Beware, I also use the 3D effects quite a bit for a lot of things to help the mood of my levels or just for asthetic look.

If anyone had looked at my little demo level I put up (my "title screen") that is just one example of what I have done.

As always...I am looking for dedicated help. It sucks and it is hard working by myself. To help clarify what I mean by dedicated is that I am looking for people that will be able to help me at least once a week...maybe even more if you absolutely feel compelled(sp?) to.

What I need help with:

Various NPCs...these are not simple either.
Gfx for things I cannot quite cover well

If you are the level type, then tryout for one of the kingdoms...just make sure you get a good scriptor to help you with npcs

arg, i thought your map was cool looking, and im not any good with levels i dont think(experience = 4 levels), i can script some, and im a head gat on babylon but ive committed to just do graphix for them, so this sucks. Otherwise i would of liked to help you with something, um does a theme to a kingdom have to be one that you said? What about like non-elemtal? you know games have some elemental magics and stuff then they have a non-elemental too (just an example)

I am impressed. Your level is very nicely detaild. I also like the tiling used on the large building at the top and the way you did a perspective on that little bush farm. You could have done a bit better with your path like make it random and broken looking (may be too vauge

) but other than that, very nicely done.

Oh, thats the outside level i was gonna try and use on babylon for my house, i wanted it to look important on the outside so people would go there, lol. Im gonna try and put a little mini quest in there if thats alright, not for a heart or anything to important maybe just some sorta npc.

Thanks! Thats my only real experience with outside levels. If i did try to get a kingdom it wouldnt be on a big island cause i probably wouldnt have enough time, especially since we are working on babylon so much right now.
Um Qusetions:

1.)what islands are people trying out for right now so far?
2.)does it have to be one of those elements that you said?
3.)could it be non-elemental? (i.e. in games there are elemental magics with strengths and weaknesses to other types, then non-elemental magics which dont have weaknesses to different magics, might not have strengths either not sure)
4.)will the server be a p2p?

I really like those screenshots, they are original yet they still have that graalish look about them.
This server will be great from what I see, and there's no stupid people like the owners of murusmane going on and on about thier server.
