I am still having alot of problems with perspective. I just can't seem to get shading/proportions (In terms of the top/side views in an image) right. How'd you guys get over this? I know alot of people ahve same problem x.x

[Edit]Case and point:

A dog before (Made 2 years ago) and dog after (made today). I am just wodnering does anyoen else thing the perspective is still kidna funny? 0.o

Yeah and as Haunter mensions below, some sort of actual proportion would help =(

I think Graal is set in a 1/3rd perspective... or maybe it's 2/3rds... I could be mistaken though... I just remember when I was trying to make a circle look like it was lying flat on the ground. It was really an oval that was 1 or 2/3rds high, as it was wide.

I'm sure somebody else will be able to help you more than I have. :P

You need to be able to see a part of the top of the dog, and a part of the bottom, the same angle you'd see a graal players head, or the graal tileset might be a better example :P

I think it's your shading which needs work, and not your perspective :P

Yeah, I'd say so too. Also, you might want to make the dog's mouth smaller. I have never seen a terrier with a mouth that wide.

for the dog on the right, you might want to REALLY improve on the shading (you only used 3-4 different colors ) and his right front leg shouldn't be the same length as his left front leg, since the right leg would be farther back because you should be able to see the top part of the dog...i hope that makes sence...

If you're going to give advice, please don't give bad advice. You don't need a bajillion colour gradient to shade something well. I think that's a lesson you should learn.

And one of those legs is farther back than the other (sort of). He's got the right idea he just needs to get it right in practice.

P.S. Andork. A common technique when learning art (How to draw, paint, sculpt, etc) is to think of things as if they were made up of basic geometric shapes. Perhaps that could apply here. Try practicing creating basic shapes that fit into Graals perspective.

Not bad advice, but I always found that was difficult to do on the computer. Works nicely on paper though

I've found that it works really well with isometric drawings. I haven't tried it that much with "straight" graphics though...

I used basic shapes when I started making that isometric tank a long time ago. I never did get around to finishing it though... I started trying to do the treads and it drove me mad. :P I think I still have it here somewhere...

Ah yeah, here it is... I started out with that blocky thing, and made my way into more definite shapes... Doing things in this fashion may help out for non-isometric graphics as well... Maybe you could try that, Androk.

Photoshop. I do all my pixel work in Photoshop, and I use ImageReady if I animate anything... It's just what I'm used to using, plus I like layers.

You must have some optimization settings set wrong or something.
