The Great Deflate?

Right, so today Sam held a trivia event. Me and Kyden tie for third. Each of use recieve a Heart Shield of Health...

for coming in third.

Second place got an Ice Dagger. Detecting a plot to deflate the shield, I sold it posthaste (For a Dustari Shield, which I suppose could easily be the next target for deflation).

This effectively means that the staff now view Heart Shield of Health as an item with less value than Ice Dagger. It's also similar to how Bjorn gave out a Cowboy Hat for third place in Labyrinth, valuing it as less than a FID, and saying that Cowboy Hat was going to get spammed in upcoming events.

First place won an Inferno Dagger, which may signal that it, too, will be deflated. Though since it was given out for first place, it wasn't given out "lower" than any other items, making it difficult to determine what the staff think the "new" value of it to be.

I'm not really trying to say whether such a deflation is going to be good or bad. Just that it seems to be happening. Hold on to your virtual pocketbooks.

P.S. 5.733 speed for the win.

I think a few copies of everything doesn't really depriciate items values in game too much. Its more fighting USD.

The key thing here isn't really that they were given out, but that they were given out as a prize lower than an Ice Dagger.

The only thing I can think of is there was a bunch of 2nd place winners, more then just you and I as the 3rd place winners.

Edit: By the way, taking offers on the shield.

I would of ****ing pwned you all.

Unless of course the questions were outside of Graal and needed actual knowledge, in-which I would of been ****ed.

~

Ah, this reminds me of a simular corr-.. crazy event. James, our lovely James, had a "black out" event, inwhich he was eventing off oh.. say.. 7 Dwarven Warhammers. 7.

This is just another example of power monging staff, expressing themselves through power mongation.

At least they came from events. I still own the only Shield of Sorcery that came from an event. All others should of been removed. Also, it only had its magic resist+ nerfed because more than one existed and everyone whined about it.

It's nothing new... but it is REALLY annoying. :/

Deflation is good if you didn't pay a lot for your item.

Nerfing is what's really bad. Speed is nerfed on the Hammers and Flaming Ice Daggers, which is why people are going for IDs now, and also, fast swiping no longer works in v4 with swords, which makes swords incredibly slow as well. Stat nerfing on an item is even worse. I can understand if the item is ridiculously overpowered like white dragon scale mail, but nerfing items with perfectly fine stats is just dumb.

I dont see what the problem is. Its an event, like Ed said. I think its good that more items are being put into the game. And inflation is worse than deflation. Go ahead and bash me I dont care. I like how more items are being put in the game.

I do too. Now, if all the dead items were brought back, sure it might rupture the economy right now, but we'd all adapt anyway. It is a good way to fight off USDing, since the value of those things will be continually depreciated, and any item that starts to get hoarded by people could easily have its value adjusted in a way such that it wards them off from doing so.

Brilliant! ;]

Now if only I can get some of my items uploaded during this golden age. Full kingdom gear for all kingdoms! = o

I'd rather the economy be fixed by non-event means. And the event was kinda inappropriate for the prizes x.x.

Helloooo - event items are made for events!

Don't forget: all these items are made for using in the game as helpful tools and for improving the skills of his owner. They were not made as goods for resale for real money in real life.
Okay, prices are made by supply and demand, but just take a look on the prices of items (by rightclick), some of your valuable stuff costs less than 10 plats others you can sell for much more.
I don't care on the black market and what stuff is going for!
I guess the event was a great success with regard of the first prize which won a newbie with low power and low skills. I really hope, he will keep it and dont sell it to someone who just want to make it to USD.

That's something that you also have to consider. Events in this nature will not depend solely on how high someone's phys level is or something like that. Everyone had the same opportunity to win the items, and it worked out that way quite nicely. There are not enough rare items in circulation nowadays to negate the flow of money, so unless you want to fork out loads upon loads of money or items for a single good item, you'd have to stick with alchemy stuff and basic weapons. By increasing the amount of rare items on the server, it will give more people the opportunity to use the items to their advantage, and, if done correctly, may help even out some of the big gaps when it comes to things like dueling, etc.

I have no problem with more a flow of event items entering the game, GK needs it, but heart shield of health was a 1 of a kind super item, now its a 3 of a kind item viewed at less value then a ID, Inferno Dagger is also a super value item, so 3 super value items given out in 1 pathetic riddle event. If your going to re release old event items this is surely not the way to do it O_o

Oh yeah and just for the staff holding these events just a little info, ice dagger is worth about 200 diamonds. Heart shield of health should be worth about 2000 and inferno dagger would be roughly the same.

Please put into consideration that IDs / FIDs used to be worth not much more than other craftable weapons out today.

If less amounts of rare items were given out, staff would have to come up with a ton of events in order to get stuff distributed correctly. Lots of us have complained time and again about how old items have vanished, and then we're given the chance to have those back in circulation, and all of a sudden people complain about that too? Hmn.

I dont see a sense in items that exists on inactive old accounts or/and on the server, but not in use.
The Heart shield of health looks nice and has not that great stats: con +1 speed+1 ac+1 armour +7.
So if someone pays 2000 diamonds for it it's his decide NPC give you 150 plats. And for all other things I posted my opinion on No.#16

Why does someone say this everytime an nice item is evented off via an event that tested mental skills and not button mashing/uber 1337 items and high level skills?

You guys want to circulate the items around? Producing masses of good powered items wouldn't do anything.. no infact, it'll just ruin the game even more. What if the old accounts with the items was re-newed? You would have masses of powered items which would make the game far too easy and boring.

-Fix all bugs
-Redo some stats(Some items are way over powered)
-Make JOBS useful (Example:Cooking for food; take out the restoration spell.)
-Reset GK.

I'm sure others can point out more flaws and more longer description but yeah, just a brief above.

Note down what and how many event items has been given out. (To destroy corruption. ;])

I think a reset can pretty much restore the econemy but creating masses of event items to "circulate" would not help.

Ah, can't stop bashing me, can you? You think the players tell the staff what is rare and what's not? I don't think it works that way, son. The server owners and management can, obviously, do whatever they want with items. A player can't classify what items are. Items are classified by how many there are. If you have an elite item, be happy you have one.

And actually, just about every player that gave me feedback loved the game. I like how you over exaggerate the warhammers. It was more like 3.

I'm all for events which are based on game content, more so riddles and stuff - that way it's more of a intelligence thing than it is knowledge of the game...

But perhaps some more announcement would have been better rather than, "kk random event, going to give away amazing prices."?

I wasn't very happy when I won the first ever GK event and the prize was the warhammer, which I was told would be the only one of it's kind, only to find it being given out as an event prize not even a month later.

I'm not saying deflating items is a bad thing... but it's a terrible thing to do with event items that were once supposed to be rare. It doesn't exactly make people want to keep playing when their super rare elite item is handed out like candy on halloween.

One idea would be to make weapons locked to a specific character either on use or if they are upgraded.

Warhammers are still rare, and shall not be evented out often.
The heart shield is quite good, glad it's being put in to the econemy.
Ice Daggers / Flaming Ice Daggers should be placed in the econemy, enough to be traded around between players.

Most bugs are fixed Akira, can you name any to help?

I don't think it would kill anything to put out an ample amount of heart shields and stuff. At first, when I read over this, I was like, "Man... that's bullcrap!" But when I really stopped to think about it, I thought Hey, this might not be too bad. It might bring back some seldomly-seen items back into the world. I don't see this as a step in the wrong direction. It might lower the value of certain items quite a bit, but you also have to remember that everything that gets put out a whole lot more in the future will actually become cheaper for you to buy if you want to buy yourself one. ;] Food for thought.

Hey? While your at it, hook me up with some items, I feel greedy. Considering how poor I am, I would like some events hosted in AMERICAN times, not when MOST of us are at school. I am all up for this, except for the fact all events have been held even before most people get out/home from school.

Then you need to be stabbed in the chin- at least make it hard to do. Trivia is really just whoever can google the fastest, or whoever knows more, it has real challenge, as anybody can win it. Yes I can see where that would be "fair", but if you want to event off things "fairly", make it so that they are solely for aesthetics, not power items that should take EFFORT to get.

MasterNuke will become famous soon enough
Alright... my main gripe about this is the fact that the items given out were completely inappropriate for the event difficulty and type. Sam, weren't you the one who told me not to event high items unless it were an RP event?
