Battle under a red moon

I got bored a while ago in training and made this. Roughly 2 hours of work, and used an old character (the dark guy) I never bothered to finish before. I got bored of it and stopped working on it, but I sort of like it as is. Tell me what you think. If nothing else, admire the tree =P.

btw...I'll be the first to make fun of the glowy mans ugly face. Proceed at will.

Don't take this offensively, but you do better scenery than you do people.

People: C
Scenery A+

The skyline, especially, is really nice. I also like the concept of the dark fella reacting with the moon's energy and whatnot. The only things that irk me about the characters themselves are the faces and the light guy's arms. It all seems like it should be fully armored, including face masks and stuff.

Atmospherically, it's great. But I find you always draw people so sloppyish, like someone has a gun at you and you have to draw them in 10 minutes or you do.

Nice, though

Like Draenin said, the people are'nt so good, but the scenery is really nice.
One thing i did notice, is that it appears like you just stuck on the guys, they dont actually look like they are there.

The tree has a nice red moon light on its angle, but the guys dont, and theres no shadows or anything to show that where they are standing is actually on the floor if you get what i mean ^_^

The sky is really nice.

The moon and tree are really impressive. I like it alot. I won't harp on the characters too much other to say I semi-agree with the others. Your backgrounds are really great though.

Hmmm....if I finished the image, you would understand why the characters look the way they do. There were going to be 4 characters in the final image; there is a reason why the image extends so high....anyway, I guess the reason why I can't see why the characters look so bad is because I see what I had in mind rather then what is actually there. Oh well. Thanks for the comments.

The sort of sucky thing that good artists suffer is that they, probably, won't be able to appriciate their art the way another viewer does... because they only see the work that they feel needs to be done, and the corrections which need to be made.

Or atleast that's how I feel whenever I look at my work

I love the scenery, but the moon/planet doesn't look right to me. Also, I see what Tom means about the characters looking like they are floating.
Overall though, it's great.

And when they ask for critique, and the viewer sees things way different than the artist does, bashings occur. Because, the artist thinks that the image is good the way it is, or only needs what they see as bad to be fixed, and the viewer sees it the way they interpret it. If that makes any sence.....
Just why I think sometimes people react with a, "Do it better yourself.", and such.

Okay, perhaps Zero should've said the good artist and the good viewer interprets them. Bashing art is pretty senseless if the art is actually done seriously. An artist should always always always be looking for improvements until he declares the work 'done,' which definitely should never be before s/he does a few revisions of it. And a critic of art should be very meticulous about what is said. If you mindlessly praise the art, it gives the artist nothing to work with. If you deconstructively criticise it, it discourages the artist. So the simple solution is to simply look at the art objectively, searching for things that could be improved without throwing too much personal bias into the critique.
