also, I know gtk exists in *nix, and has been ported to windows... has it been ported to mac? If it has, then I supose that could be used to generate external windows, such as a playerlist. o.O

I doubt Stefan will release any more "preview" versions, since 3.1 is supposedly so close to being done. Those two things will be in 3.1.
