Gileada Status/Hiring

Hello, this is your friendly neighborhood swine with
an update and some other information. Gileada is the
playerworld with the over-head view and nice new systems
which, as far as i know, have never been done on graal.
Please log on and check out the OW Test level before argueing!

Anyway the reason for this post is to update you nice, clean-looking people.
We have completed all 100 overworld levels and are now working
on the normal inside levels, and towns. There will be many neat
things about this server. Unfortunately, most of them are still ideas
so I can't garuntee they will be used... So I figure theres no point
posting them... But you can forum pm me if you are curious.

We are hiring good LATs and GATs, e.g., people who make levels,
and people who make graphics.

- If you would like to apply for lat, send me 2 inside levels and 2 outside levels. You will get 1 point for each nice level, and no point
for each mediocre level! (0/4) (1/4) (2/4) (3/4) (4/4)
Anyone will 3/4 and up will most-likely pass.

- If you would like to apply for gat, send me 4 of your most impressive
graphics. This can include anything graal-related, but not sprites such
as heads, swords, shields, etc.. UNLESS, Of course, they are of your
own style and shape.
I am looking for an assistant to assist me with our tilesets.
Same ranking system as with the LAT test.

Also hiring developers. You should send me the above samples,
plus any extra credit you would like to receive, e.g. ganis, scripts,
and you may also provide a pre-made GP test for us to see your
reaction in most cases (optional.)

And now for the SAMPLE, because I had already known what
would have been said if I didn't include one! Here is a picture of
a part of one of our overworld levels. This screenshot shows our
grass colors, flowers, rocks, and our river tiles. It does not show
our other shade of desert and our snow tiles.

Will the server be scrictly role-playing? Or does it have a linear storyline? Or just run around and have fun?

I remember checking it out when you first announced the server, and it was nice then, nice to hear you are still working hard on it.

Well, being the main developer of the world, I had really wanted
it to be a RP world... Not as strict as val where you get banned,
but have a different system of player "cops" that could imprison
someone if they murder a person. It wouldn't be like GP warpwarp
jailjail, it would be more RPish jailing, say perhaps the cop puts
the player in a net or a rope! Ties them up.. yay...

So yes, it IS good to RP however if you don't I won't force you to
and give you a bad time, because that isnt fun. It does have a
storyline which is being made into stuff now.... And you can run
around and have fun too.

Is it me or does that worldmap look kind of like valikorlia's? I mean, if you look at the water-sand cliff tiles they look very similiar to val's. Then again, good job. (river also looks similar, ignore my pickyness XD)

Well unfortunately for me, I have been banned on Val since
March because I had asked a staff member why my tileset
wasn't loading...

And there are some normal levels, just log on and go into
them... There's not really a point to posting a level screenshot
of a level that you can get to.

I'm pretty sure this server was announced before (or a little after) when the "New Val" before the "New New Val" ()(that just came out last week) came out. So this OW was in development beforehand. I'm just going by memory though..

I suppose you're going for a mix of things. Just hope everything comes out consistant. Also, will you have custom weapons and shields, or the default Graal sword/shield system? I'm just curious.

Well if you log on and go into the room that asks you
to please go into it, you will notice a sword and a bunch
of other items on the table thingy.

So yes we have a new sword and shield system. Zero wanted
the shield just to be for show, and not really have any scripted
special shields.... Im not sure about that though. If you press "Ctrl"
when someone hits at you, it will block the hit. I am not sure
if it works against monsters. I haven't tried it.

Nah, val's worldmap isn't anything like this one.
Gileadea's worldmap is really cool in movement and stuff, val isn't that fun moving. But valikorlia is slightly better graphic wise, i don't know what valikorlias worldmap looked like along time ago however.

Anyway, good job.
(Oh, and sorry i stopped coming on RC, but i see i'm fired anyway XD)

How come when I post things like this people only argue with me and say bad things -_-

Again it is I, Zero, the Asst. Manager person and for some reson Oink got this impression that because he is Head Dev that means he is in charge of Development over everyone...? (Makes no sence since I made alot of the ideas)

But no matter I wanna clear up some questions...Yes this world will have a linear storyline with side quests to better enhance your character. Quests on this server deosn't just mean go in the dungeon defeat the moster and get the NPC. Instead you have things you must think about and there are element resitances and certain weapon types your character may be better at depending on how you raise his skills. The experiance system is quite different to as instead of having levels you spend your XP into skills or to better raise one of your 4 stats (strength, dexterity, vitality, energy). Either way you must visit a trainer of the correct type to spend your XP.

Like Oink said, we have a unique new system which allows you to equip 2 weapons, 1 spell and 1 item at a time. Weapons aren't just swords but also include axes, clubs, spears, staves and bows all of which are just as common as the sword. But unlike Oink said, there is an armor system but I do not plan to have a shield system but instead just have the shield be an img the player can change at will for looks and it blocks with ctrl.
